Poor man's Supercharger.

We need a cheap supercharger we can slap on that will give us 50 horses. How hard could that be? Like $2k or so.

Impossible... only power adder for that kind of price range is going to be N20... which is incredibly fun but is really only for the track...

Now you're talking... but you are talking probably about a non-intercooled centrifugal supercharger... I would think around $3K-ish... thing is I don't think anyone is actively working on this...

The physical cost of putting together a forced induction kit is the same whether it adds 50 hp or 200.

If shooting for a 50 horse increase, it is a LOT cheaper to do it with a cam swap. For short burst, nitrous is the way to go. Obviously, headers will not hurt either.

What part of Upstate NY are you around?

You can PM me if you don't want to post it...

True... and good point... as I posted in the other thread, I know that "some one" took a LLT, modified the stock intake manifold and did a some work on the heads and got 320 RWHP out of it... Which is pretty darn cool and I seriously thought about trying to replicate this... but since there is no way I could possibly do this type of work myself, i got the feeling the labor and time involved was just to cost prohibitive... especially since my car is my DD...

Cool stuff. We used to go out of Treman state park with the boats and cruise up Cayuga Lake to Taughannock Falls.

I am in Florida now, but we still go up to Alexandria Bay/1000 Islands in the summer. I have a bunch of friends and relatives between Syracuse and Binghamton.

And as far as FI mods for your Camaro, unfortunately it is not an inexpensive route to power. A cam (and headers) are in the price range and you can gain some impressive power numbers.

Any info on a cam? If i take it down to do a cam swap i can do the work to the intake and heads. Will definately be interested in it when it's available.

Not sure I want to crack open these new engines so labor would be a bear. BTW grew up in Cortland settled up on the hill near Lansing.

A cam swap would be a pricey in these motors since you have to replace 4 of them. Unless you do it yourself

Doing it myself is not an issue. I have the shop and tools to do it. Was an auto mechanic for 6 yrs prior to becoming a Millwright/Machinist. I'm a bit behind on the computer stuff but am catching up now that i intend to play around and do some mods to my Camaro. Already scoped out the engine and ease of working on it. Not nearly as congested as my cousin's Mustang that i did head work on.
