You have an L99, it will not be as easy OR CHEAP as an LS3. If you have 5k to drop, go for it... but ask a vendor ...again ADM Lashway JRE Texas-Speed MarylandSpeed... You might want to consider Texas Speed since it is close to home.

I'm definitely not a "know-it-all," but if you ask any of the respected vendors on here, they will all tell you you're leaving a lot of power on the table if you do a cam without upgrading to long-tube headers.

If you have the funds, you should do it all... like the last poster said, leaving a lot of power on the table and long tube headers were one of the best jumps I have had...simple and relatively cost effective if you look at the gains.

Ted has stated before that doing a cam without headers is not smart, the cam wont even show good numbers at all. you would get more power from headers and a CAI, then a cam alone. |

You are looking at about $4,500.00 for a cam, headers, CAI, and tune. To gain 60-70 rwhp, you can gain more by going with a more aggressive cam but you may have issues with driveability. Another option is bolt on a maggie kit for $6,500.00 and pick up 80-100 rwhp with no other mods than a tune. Then add headers and cai later for another 50-60 rwhp.

You need basic bolt ons before proceeding with a cam.

Always buy mods that will set you up for potential future mods you may have in mind. I would start with CAI, headers, full exhaust 3" or 2.5" depending on what your future horsepower goals are.

Save yourself some time and money. Buy the cold air intake, tuner, and long tube headers. You will notice a huge difference in the car. I originally wanted to do the cam before doing the headers, but if you don't allow the engine to pull in and remove the air more efficiently you will be wasting money on the cam for a small gain. Believe me the car feels way more powerfull after installing the headers axle back exhaust cold air intake and tune. My next step is to do the cam when I have the money for it.
It is your money man, do what you like. |
