If they can't put the actual gas cap location on the back, top drivers side, they could at least put the cap there and put the gas intake behind the rear plate like the vette. It's actually been talked about quite a bit.

Don't throw anything at me, but why exactly is it a safety concern? What makes the side safer than the top?

another reason for not having it on top of the fender is The imbeciles that will purchase the car and will dribble gas on the fender, then do a warranty claim when their paint gets eaten up. Or the ones who will leave a little gas sitting next to the fill point, get in the car and light the cigarette, then flick it out the window down the road only to go BOOM when it lands on the fender lit.

It looked nice on top like the concept, but to be honest I think I prefer it on the passenger side (though I'd rather it was the drivers side) than on top. Mainly so the worry of gas getting on the car is gone.

Had it stayed on the top of the fender I would have opted for the chrome gas cap, but when on the side of the car I think the chrome just breaks up the smooth lines of a car and sticks out like a sore thumb.

I think the chrome would look nice on top, as well. I'm concerned that it will look like a riced out Eclipse or something with the chrome on the side. I don't think that's an option GMPP should pursue.

Unfortunately I think they are pursuing it. Didn't one of the releases on the 21st mention it? I believe it at least mentioned 'fuel filler doors' would be options.

I think they can still make it look ok on the sides. I hope they offer it in brushed aluminum and not chrome. The Challenger's "chrome" cap looks cheap.
