People think there is goinna be like 10 different engine choices this is NUTS why can't people accept the fact that the TOP CAMARO for the foreseeable future is the ZL1. I can't imagine anything faster coming to showrooms maybe hennessey or someone but this is crazy everyone should be happy about the ZL1 screw the name it's the beast everyone has been waiting for.
If your just talking Camaro then maybe no. But they do with the vette...already

The Z28 should compete with the 302. That's the traditional history.

If the Z28 comes out as a 5th gen, here's what we need:

1. Tuned LS3, or LS7, 480-500hp. CAI.

2. Coilovers, upgraded sways, strut tower brace.

3. More aggressive exhaust. Headers would be nice also.

4. Delete options such as rear seat etc. Need to lose at 300lbs.

5. No tech gadgets like parking assist, HUD, bluetooth, OR ONSTAR!!

6. No leather!

7. Forged 19" wheels.

Just a stripped down, lean, mean, track machine.

When the car was introduced however, and we learned that the wouldn't be a Z28 for 2010, I grabbed an SS, knowing that the 2010 is and would be a special car to own in years to come.

Some need to own the biggest, meanest, fastest beast on the streets. Others long to get back a piece of history. Some are lucky enough to get both.
Man i love to hear about all the hot Camaros that are here and the ones that are coming, but me I am happy with my silver V6 Camaro too.

There we go, z28 was a stripped down trans am racing car. So much so that you could order the headers and dual quad cross ram intake and carb which came packaged in the trunk for dealer installation, etc. I'd love to see the Z28 come with the ZL1 suspension but a destroked ls3 manual 6 speed powertrain and cloth interior without all the gadgets. They are only a crank swap away on the LS3 from an 8000 rpm beast It needs to compete once again with the Boss 302 on the original playingfield, the roadcourses. I would hope it would be priced close to the SS's as this is where it was when it was introduced. I think Ford had overpriced the Boss 302 slightly and their sales will be less than they hoped. So here is one to consider, the Z28's of 67 to 69 (which is what GM is flashing back to) never came with the automatic option...what if they don't give that option??? So many on here are begging for the ZL1 to have it as an option when in fact no ZL1 ever came like that in 69 either. And the Z28 was a road race car, so I am hopeful they stick with the stick only and don't sissy it up any.

Just to correct your misconception, 1969 COPO 9560 AA: ZL1 manual transmission- 47 produced, COPO 9560 BA: ZL1 Automatic transmission- 22 produced for a total of 69 1969 ZL1 Camaros.

You'll lose!
Everyone car wars is back! Once again Ford is first out of the gate but Chevy always wins in the end. The ZL1 was the Z28 til the Boss came back, now watch the SSX turn into the Z28. Mark my words!

That's not a bold prediction. It is actually quite obvious that some things from the SSX will make it into the Z28.

I guess I'm one that doesn't really care if they bring back a camaro with the Z/28 name when the ZL/1 is on it way. The only way would be if it had more performance then the ZL/1 which is not to likely.

Good catch, I got mixed up in my ZL1 and Z28 references, I mean the Z28 wasn't available as an automatic in 1969.

Some days I hardly know my name, much less what models from 40 years ago did or did not have available.
