2012 Camaro ZL1 vs 2008 Corvette vs 2012 Challenger srt8
I was hanging out at the tracks this past thursday. I observed 1/4 mile times on these three bad as rides. the zl1 and corvette had slicks and the challenger had stock tires on. Anyhow best times in the 1/4 mile: ZL1 12.3 Corvette 12.4 and unbelievably the Challenger 12.1. Every car owner claimed stock. The corvette had long tube headers. I did not know the challenger was moving the crowd like that. What you'll think.

As far as I know the record for a stock 392 Challenger is 12:25, so if he did run 12:10 and was telling the truth about stock he now holds the record. I ran my 100% stock 12 392 on Sat and ran a 12:46 @ 112 mph, with a 1.90 60' time. I know it could have went quicker though as I had to use all the TC nannies to not spin 1/2 way down the track. The auto 392s are very capable cars.
Basic tuning was introduced for the 11/12 SRTs a few weeks back by DiabloSport and from what I have read thus far it is making a big differance with some very low 12 sec passes being run by 392 Chargers.

Yea, I'm thinking he has a tune. The Challenger is lest expensive than the ZL1 and has a better 1/4 mile pass.Wow

Yes, bone stock. Check the ZL1 fast times list. There is also a thread about it with a picture of his timeslip.

Possibly, tunes just came out like last week and there is only 1 canned tune so far. When they get true full on dyno tuning then the 392s will be deep in the 11's since the only mods so far are a CAI and cutbacks. Now they can get headers, tb's, heads, cams, FI, you name it. Its about time.

Hey man! It's Scott...the black ZL1 vert owner. Good to see you this past Thursday! For those who claim those times (zl1) are somewhat slow...considering that I have a vert and the track @memphis is slow at best...I think 12.3 is VERY respectable. I need a tad taller tire and my goal is 11.xx. Before I start to mod lol
Have a great night!!! Scott |

That is a slow time for a 08 LS3 Vette with LT's. You sure it was a 08? Vette should have been in the 11's if those other 2 cars were stock running those times at that track. What was the trap for all 3 cars. I also have a hard time believing bone stock 13 SRT8 running a 12.1 on street tires. Like someone else said, that would be a world record.

An base C6 vette on tires with headers is not going to run 11s every pass with just a ok driver! Yes it COULD... but as far as drivers go, most people are still stuck in the 12s with those mods!
