Does that seem about right for the rear gear in the Z/28?

Zl1 had 172 on the straight and the z/28 is still faster. This new car is going to be crazy fast on smaller tracks!

Here's an overlay I made of the Z/28's run vs the ZL1's run.

All I'm saying is that the ZL1 is still a better achievement for GM in my opinion because that car has all the bells and whistles and STILL turns in a 7.41 time....in fact put the ZL1 on the Z28 wheel/tire combo and it would probably be quicker...
You are Spot On! Bullseye! In fact, it appears the Ceramic Rotors wouldn't even be needed on the ZL1 to run a 7:37. Just the Fatter Front Tires! And, no need to remove any creature comforts!

What this says to me is 1) GM has gotten the Camaro dialed in on the Ring and 2) Supercharged or N/A, take your pick! It's about peaked out in any variation. Tweaks are only thing left to do. Tweaks resulting in Tweaks of time. No heat soak on the Z/28 didn't seem to give it a significant advantage.

Bottom line, street results will be the same. ZL1 is truly the PINNACLE of achievement for an all around factory production car. Just like GM marketed the ZL1, it remains King of the Hill of Camaro's! Z/28 great track car.... but maybe not better than ZL1 if you tweak the ZL1 just a pinch.

Glad to see all that weight reduction and reduced comfort truly did not make a remarkable difference in the big picture. Sure, great track car - no doubt. Same as the ZL1 but just cost more per MPH. And MPH and Times are so close as to be irrelevant. Nice project for those who wanted the street toy back on the grind! Value/Speed proposition goes to ZL1. Plus listen to your favorite radio station.

Oh..... Noticing the heavy cloud cover, reduced resulting ambient temps, and possibly denser oxygen, could have been a factor as well..... if we are actually going to be picking the flysh*t out ot the pepper here.

It rained! There was more on the table with the rain and it still pulled a time like that, wow. Amazing. By the way we need VIR lap times or a 1LE at the ring, period! Note the volumes this time speaks for the ZL1 and how amazing the whole camaro line up is. ZL1 with those tires would've been right there if not better, however probably not as consistent as the Z/28. For that matter, look at all the chevy cars on that list?!?! Best time for car guys ever

On the back straight:
ZL1 driver never lifted. Reached 172 mph.
z/28 driver entered back straight slower. Lifted several times. reached 160 mph at 6131 rpms. (Approx.)
I will say that the rate of acceleration on the ZL1 was stronger.
The Z/28 is a 7:35 car all day long in the dry.

I need to go back to the two videos and see how much farther ahead the Z/28 was before the rain started which was before the back straight.
