Bad Dealer

I just found out today, after inquiring about my order number for the second time, that my dealership had not put my order in Workbench.

They had put my order in another software package, but not Workbench.

So, I am sure that is why I have not gotten a letter yet. GM knew nothing of my order.

I was assured that GM is going to allocate orders to dealerships. So that I will not get say the 10,000 car built. I am the #1 order at the dealership.

Man, he knew I was not happy.

The dealership was the Chevy dealer in Warren Ohio.

Sorry to hear that man. At least you found out now. Did they put it into Workbench now and give you an order number?

Sorry to hear that. I know I'd be PO'd enough to seriously consider taking my business elsewhere or at least get them to knock a few dollars off the price.

Well to be honest it doesn't really matter that they didn't put it in yet. Shady, yes, but it won't affect when you get your car or anything. You're only competing against (for lack of a better term) other customers at your dealership.

I am not sure you can say that at this point with any amount of certainty. It could be that GM looks at when orders were placed and pulls according to that (along with some other factors). It just isn't clear (at least to the public) at this point how it is all going to happen.

Does the order number mean anything in Canada, i ordered the first day, but i never got a order number, i havent got a letter, i am a little worried now as well. I asked wheres my order number and he told me something about it being in the states, but he said my order had been put through.

I'm in the same boat as you. There are a number of dealers that are doing it this way. For whatever reason they don't want to use the quick orders via order workbench. They want to wait and place the orders when they receive word that GM is accepting orders.

I am #1 at my dealership as well. It really sucks that we have to put our faith in these dealers that they will place the orders as they were received, but what choice do we have? Go somewhere else and be last in line?

One person mentioned that they were doing it this way so that they can order their fleet cars first. I don't know if this is true or not.

All we can do is hope we are dealing with an honest dealership.

My parents live in Rockford, IL, so it's not outside of the realm of possibility but unless I could get initial allotment it wouldn't really be worth it for me.

That would go against what they've told dealers as well as what they've done for every car in the past. And in that case, people who changed their orders and had to cancle and reorder to get it to change would get screwed.

I have no letter yet! I ordered in October the very FIRST day for orders. When I enquired about my order they did fax me a workbench with a # and it showed that the order was placed like 49 days ago (when it was faxed to me).

It would be nice to get the letter but as long as I get my car i'll be cool.

Most dealers just don't understand the significance of this car to the pre-order group.
The pre-orders are all for enthusiasts, and as such, they are all pretty passionate about every detail concerning their orders.
This is also why GM should not be too surprised at the overwhelming SS ratio being ordered. Its painfully obvious that the enthusiasts are pretty much going to all order SS's.
To the dealers that "get it" a big thumbs up.
To the ones that don't, they are either not passionate enough about their business, or they are just plain stupid, or both.
