What about my post made you think I took it personal?

You can think what you want with your scale. The "generic" spec sheet lists the weight of the lightest possible base GT you can buy.

Personally I would think the weight that Ford lists would be the final word...maybe Im an idiot.

The camaro gets heavier every day and the mustang lighter...just like they always have in the past. Nothing new here lol...not even sure why I bothered posting the weight that Ford actually lists...it must not hold any water for some people.

People have weighed the LS3 SS at less than 3860....I dont think for 1 second that is the case. Why would I? Maybe a conspiracy is going on with Ford and GM. GM cars actually weigh more than they list and the Fords weigh less...I think we may be onto something here.

Just like how the 5.0 is under rated and the LS3 is not?...even though they are both certified under the new SAE standard....I am starting to get it now

If a current gen mustang 5.0 weighed 3470 lbs it would probably have little structural rigidity and also not do well in a crash.

You can have less weight and greater strength with carbon fiber, aluminium, titanium, etc. Mustang has none of this in the structure

weight doesn't always = strength, you can tell by the way the 2010 camaro got 4 stars in a frontal crash test instead of 5. (they have since upgraded of course to correct this) but it just shows that weight alone isn't the deciding factor.

And here you go again.... Your one instance of weighing the car is probably not accurate in the least compared to the numbers ford puts out. I owned one and I'm pretty damned sure the 5.0 is a fairly heavy car. The gearing and motor more than make up for the few hundred extra pounds though.

I don't give a crap what a website says. I have a photo of the shipping doc on the 5.0...that's where I got the number. My car was 3840. Interesting about the Boss intake. maybe I'll let him get it. LOL . His build spec said 3.31 gears because it's a non brembo car. 400lbs= 4 tenths. maybe there is something unique about that car...but it appears to just be a base car with the default rear and a manual. he's a good friend...I've known him for years...he'll drive the snot out of it and do well. i want to help him put a vortech kit on it. I think it would be wicked.

Shoulda got the auto. Be sure to beat on the car a bit before he mods anything. Those transmissions are a huge trouble spot. Just goolge MT-82 if you don't believe me. Btw I had a 2011 5.0 m6 that got sold because the trans was bad.

unless they're certified for legal trade, they can easily be off.

They haven't fixed anything. The trans is still the exact same as before and it's still garbage. Look on the s197 forum and you will see plenty of 2012 cars with the same issue. The fix: buy an auto or get another brand of car. Guess which one I did...

2012's still have the same problem but you can get the trans "fixed" by getting updated parts or getting a whole replacement trans.
