Glad everyone is okay and that the front end is fixable instead of totaling the car. I've learned very quickly these Camaros are strong cars. |

Prolly more than 5000. I had a deer t-bone me last fall. New rear and front quarter, door skin and for some read on a $600 headlight that must have been broken by the body shop. All GM metal. Totaling over $11,000

The Camaro and most cars today are unibody, hopefully the body shop will ensure that the structure has not been knocked out of specs in the accident. Back edge of the hood has devices that prevent it from popping out of place in a front-end accident and going through the windshield; check should be done to see how much stress was transferred back to the cowl area. Also, the front fender attachment points, radiator support, and front cradle areas should be carefully looked at.

Ouch! OP, Glad you're okay...your baby will be good as new soon. Folks, I know we love our phones....but it only takes a split second for something like this to happen.

Ron looks like you are correct. Preliminary damage is $14,000 + damage. LoOKs like the hitch on the truck I hit took out the radator, fan, cam sensor, wire ring harnes, air conditioner, air intake sensor, then air bag, bunch of under hood brackets, right fendor, hood, front clip, right hid light, front clip brackets, seat belts and what ever else.... it adds up...the body shop says total loss but let's see what State farm says tomorrow,

Looks like I get to upgrade to an SS. I have my eye on a 15 vert, great price with 12k miles for sale local. Not buying a black car again.

I would have guessed a total loss as well, I was absolutely shocked at how much stuff ads up. had a doe tbone my old pickup and i figured it wouldnt even be worth pulling a 500 deductible, turned out to almost 4000 in damage. I thought the body guy was joking at first when he said 4k! A lot more goes into the work then a lot of people (myself included) think and its crazy how much it adds up when it doesnt appear to really be that bad....

Ouch. Congrats on the new SS! Accidents aren't always a bad thing, if it isn't your fault.

I had a 13 Black 2LT that looked exactly like yours (coupe tho). Considering a 15 2SS or a 15 GT for now and as you mentioned I will try to avoid black cars as they are impossible to keep clean.

Sorry to hear, I've had stuff like that happen before too. Lost the front end of my Ford Taurus LX wagon back in the early '90s. Sounds like a dog, but I still miss that car.

From my angle it looks fixable but borderline totaled, depends on the insurance company from my experience.

first appraisal was even close to a total loss, it was a total loss. You would be surprised how often this happens once the car was opened up for the repairs. Besides the hassle, expense, time, etc, a great piece of salvage would be ruined.

If you have to ask "How bad is this", then it's pretty bad.
