2012 or 2013 ZL1?

As we're getting awfully close to '13 MY, would you still get the '12 or would you wait for a '13 and Why? Let's assume 2 scenarios: 1. you keep it for 3-4 yrs, or 2. you keep it for 10+ years. I was initially thinking of collecting it but who knows...

Mine was built on Valentine's day and it's still sitting in Oshawa. Love hurts: I went through excitement, anxiousness, nervousness, dissapointment, and I'm close to not caring anymore. I'm trying to figure out whether I should wait 2 more months to get the new MY. I assume a lot of you are going through the same thing...
Thanks

Same here bro... No one knows when they will release... GM has upset many with this hold... I'm excited about the release but not knowing is scary... All we can do is speculate... GM has no expected date of release now thus potentially making us want to pull out and wait for a 13' we will see in the next coming weeks

Just spoke with Customer Care. I gave him my order number and he put me on hold for about 5min. All he told me was they have no production date and they are waiting to recieve all of the orders and they are going to make them all at once. I dont really know what any of this means but thats what he said, figured I would share with you guys anyway.

To answer your question, I'm staying with the 12MY, but there are a bunch of unknowns at this point. Having yet to receive the ones built, who's to say they have a found the solution and are happy with the results? The hold is indefinite, I honestly don't see them ordering or producing the 13s if these aren't fixed yet. If the hold lasts a couple more months, I'm thinking they might push the new ones into 2014.

I just spoke (email) with a GM representative on the subject matter of the ZL1... she said that they were told the 12' ZL1 will not be released in March and April is the next window, although unlikely as well

I'll go away on vacation in April so that means I can only get it in May! What a shame! I'm assumig that the '12 will be worth more as a collector's car but if I don't keep it long enough it probably won't matter. That's my dilemma...

If I were ordering right now I would deffinatly wait for 2013. I would also try to buy for invoice instead of msrp.

they are supposed to go into full production next year. I mean there is no way I can see you getting one in april even if you wanted one. may might be possible but june could be more realistic.

I mean I have already ordered so it they get it built I will take it but I though originally I would have my car end of april now that is just not going to happen. could be june. they will start 213 production mid to end of june most likely.

collectability is really hard to predict. if they go into full production next year I am not sure that a 2012 will really be "collectable" I mean what is more desirable about a 2012 than 2013. it is not like they are making 100 of them or they will be better.

I am losing hope on 2012 and will give 2013 a chance. I don't care about its resale or collectability. I just want the car around msrp or less.

Ture... not a good investment if you're trying to make money, but it's still a 55k + investment that requires some consideration...

The representative who was very polite told me that alot of complaints came in not just from buyers but from dealers... Chevy is keeping it quite but that is only hurting them as the media and such are speculating and its the only thing we can go off of... basically what I got out of the convo was GM is working to fix the problem and she even said not having an expected date is scary... consumers beware we may be in this for the long haul

Yes, purchasing a new vehicle as an investment because one believes that it will eventually have some collector value at some date in the future is almost always a poor financial decision.
