VMax Ported Throttle Body & CAI
Do I have to worry about my ZL1 throwing a code if I use the VMax Ported Throttle Body in conjunction with my intake from CAI, Inc.?
Do I need a tune to use the VMax? |

I have a Roto Fab cai and a LSa VMax ported throttle body and no cels. You dont need a tune unless you go with the LS3 ported throttle body.

Hard to tell as the thing was never lacking in power! Matt at FSP tested the VMax on another ZL1 at his shop and showed a 21hp increase. My car feels great but Im not sure my butt dyno can tell the difference between 580hp and 600!

Correct! VMax is doing another LSA run now, we can't keep these things on the shelf at all. Will not need a tune, and will not throw lights! |

Hey Matt....in your testing, how close to stock if the afr on Rotofab/VMax combos? I think I've read that you've had a couple of them on your dyno?

I'm wondering this as well. I have Pfadt Tri-Y headers in as well. I've been going with no tune and it smells like it's running rich. Would be cool if I could snag a throttle body and lean it out some lol

Really have not seen much AFR change adding the TB.. This particular car was 10.3-10.6:1 across the board with the Rotofab (That was already installed) and stayed consistent with the addition of the TB. |

What are you seeing for afr on stock cars? based off of what I'd seen on here the maf curve was pretty accurate and afr was pretty darned close to commanded PE? |

As far as ZL's I've only dyno'd a few stock ones, most were in the 10.6-11.0 range. However, around here by the time it hits the dyno the car is usually far from stock I've dyno'd a lot more stock CTS-Vs and most of those were 10.6-11.0 also. So yes they seem to be somewhat consistent. Of course with the soft IAT timing pull too, that is going to make it go a bit richer when it does pull out timing. |

in the stock configuration, GM calibration has several different AFR marks in the PE table for WOT through the RPM band.
Aftermarket calibration usually shoots for 1 target number for best performance, and calibrates the MAF to hit the safe mark. Then determine how much spark it will tolerate. AFRs are a moving target as your car is breathing. We haven't seen a down side to any of the Vmax systems. |
