Splash Guard question - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Greetings,

I purchased the splash guards recently but have yet to install them. The directions say not to install them unless the parts and the car are between 61 and 86 degrees.

My question is why does the temperature matter?

for the trim tape to bond...otherwise there could be a gap between the guard and car body

Didn't notice the tape on the inside of the splash guards. Thanks for the info.

Remember to mount the Splash Guard first then use the red tab to pull the plastic off the tap.

And don't forget to leave the tab sticking out when you tighten down the screws and pop the plastic "rivet" in.....it is not easy to fish the tab out afterwards!

I also had to remove my "chicklets" because they were in the way....I don't miss them anyway....car looks smoother withOUT them...

Anyone try installing them in cold weather? Problems?
I'm waiting for it to warm up but it maybe a few days.

You can use a hair dryer to warm up the body panel area and the tape side, as long as both surfaces are above 70 degress they will bond and stick permantly. I did this in 30 weather when i put my front plate on with double sided 3m tape.

just dont put them on??? hahaha just my opinion. if you wanna get dirty buy a rally car like a subaruuuuuu. put big splash gaurds on that sucker haha

I think the point of the splash guards is so the car DOESN'T get dirty.

Plus some of us will have to drive on a gravel road now and then and would rather still have paint on the side of the car at the other end.

That's why I'm getting them; that and I'm still toying with the idea of driving it during the winter.

I wanted them to protect the back quarters from rocks, pebbles and sand. This winter has been pretty bad (not common here in SEVA) and the roads (mostly blacktop) are falling apart. I mocked up the splash guards on Monday and I'm still on the fence. If I put them on and decide to take them off, I'm guessing it won't be easy to remove them and I'll have to cover up holes and/or glue marks. All season tires are the other option.
