Production Numbers???

http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...uction-updates

We know many of you are rabid for the 2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1, and some of you even have them on order, so we're keeping you informed as production resumes and deliveries continue to reach their buyers.

We've come across a dealer document through one of our loyal readers that gives us some updates on the ZL1's production status and options details. Perhaps most significant of the information in the document is the revelation that of the 1,100 remaining unfulfilled orders, just 500 of them will be built and delivered as 2012 models. The remaining 600 will be rolled over into 2013 model-year production, which won't start until after the end of April.

For those buyers among the 1,100 remaining, GM will inform you of your car's status on April 11.

Production of the ZL1 resumes next week now that the hold for a software issue has been lifted, and cars not yet built will see some adjustments on their options packages.

For 2012 models ordered with the optional exposed carbon fiber weave hood inserts (RPO code B92), the $600 charge for the upgrade will be offset by a $600 credit, and new window stickers issued to reflect such.

Models ordered with the ZL1 stripe package and sunroof (RPO codes DSW and DSX) will also get a slight tweak: the stripes will only be on the rear deck, not the roof.

That's all for now--but we'll keep you updated as we learn more.

This report doesn't make sense to me. ZL1 production started on Jan 26. They had two weeks where the plant shut down and then the QC hold. They only actually built them for about three weeks. In that time they built about 500. So the article is saying that in the remaining two months, they will only be able to produce 500 more. I doubt that this report is accurate.

It seems like they only have about three weeks to finish the 2012 models , then move on to 2013 year model , this according to the OP report , so the #s are within the margin of from the first weeks of production for the ZL1 .

I think I read it some where on this forum that they are going to be produced until June. So you're talking about eight weeks.

According to the Post #80 by Fbodfather in the following link, the final future production number for the ZL1 has not been released yet by Chevrolet.

"We have not yet said how many cars we'll build - and it has been posted on here that your dealers will know shortly how many ZL1s we'll build for 2012. We have not announced that regardless of what you've heard."

This posted on 4/7/12.

Guys this is another order cycle i believe in addition to current not built orders. They don't need another DOSP for orders already placed and not built. That would mean all current orders get built and 500 more allocations to be put out. and they build until mid June, Two months
= alot more cars....

See above attached image..DOSP is a additional order cycle....not orders already placed!!!!!!!

No... DSOP (Dealer Order Submission Process) is actually where the allocations get picked up. Apparently there are 1100 folks sitting at 1100 (me included). This final DSOP will select 500 of those to be built as 2012 the remaining 600 will be the next DSOP and become 2013 MY.

Next Wed/Thursday will be like the lottery around here...
