My friends car has a dead battery, alt. works fine just needs a jump. What is the correct way to do this.

Correct me if i'm wrong. I believe that under the hood there is a black piece that has a + charge on it, it has a plastic cap on it so simply lift it up and a connector should be there. As far as the negative charge, connect the other jumper cable to the frame of the body.

It a red capped part on the driver side behind the air cleaner. That is your positive. Any bare metal on the engine or frame can be used for the negative. Remember red to positive on both cars and black to any bare metal for the negative.

It is described in the Owners Manual "How to Jump a Car" but I would be very careful of jumping another car with all the computers on the new cars.

Dont ever jump another car with your car on. If possible disconnect your battery and just use the battery. If left on you could short out your wiring and computer system in your car. This goes for any vehicle. Charge the other battery in the other car with your but then turn your vehicle off if you decide not to disconnect your battery. Then immediately disconnect your cables from the car to reduce any damage that could occur.
