4.10 gears for 2010 Australian LS3 6MT 2SS RS

Hi guys, looking at fitting 4.10 gears to suit a cammed LS3 powered 2SS RS. As Camaros are basically non existent and only available as a RHD converted car, there is little to no aftermarket parts available.

What I was wondering is: are the diff gears interchangeable between the LS3 Camaro and the Pontiac G8 (Holden Commodore LS3) that the car was initially designed from? If it is, it will mean locally available diff centres are available, if not... I'm going to need to import from the USA.

Any help is appreciated, Regards Dan

They are different. most of the g8's wanting to buy 3.45 gears are having to buy the full pumpkin.

Are you wanting a complete diff or just to swap the gears? I don't know why you couldn't just buy a gear set from a vendor and have them shipped to Aussie land and then put into your diff. That is as long as you have some one who can set up the gears and you have a tuner program to reset the gear ratio for the speedo.

Maybe I've missed something about your situation but to me buying the gear set and then swapping them for your gears should work. I know you can order the GM 3.91 gear set if that ratio will work for you. Its what I did.

Thanks for the replies. Basically, what I was trying to say is that we have heaps of aftermarket parts for our V8 commodores (Pontiac G8) and if the diff gears were interchangeable, that would be the cheapest option for me.

Where would be the best place to purchase a 4.10 gear set (to change my existing 3.4) that do shipping to Australia. I have a local guy who can fit it and retune the car but parts availability for the Camaro5 is scarce at very best.

The car it is going into is a 2010 2SS RS with an LS3 which has huge cam and struggles to drive in 6th gear

Thanks and Regards, Daniel

I'd suggest contacting Apex, JDP or some of the other great vendors in the transmission/ drivetrain part of the vendor section. I'm sure one of them can hook you up and ship it to you.

Good luck.

By the way I have a medium sized cam and the 3.91 gears pretty much took mine back to stock drivability manners at low rpms in the higher gears.
