Amp Input Voltage Setting with 2013 MyLink system Using FARK 3.0?

Guys,

I've had my new speakers installed for about a few days along with the factory 2013 MyLink and the JL HD900/5. I am using the FARK 3.0 into the HD900/5. In order to be able to set the gains according to the manual that came with the amp by using a voltmeter and test tones, I had to set the amp to High Input Voltage in order to achieve the proper voltage levels that the manual states at 3/4 head unit volume. I am just wondering if this was not correct and I should start again using the low level signals, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try, maybe I didn't have the radio at the correct volume when I tried the low level setting.

Here is the blurb from the manual.

A wide range of signal input voltages can be
accommodated by each of the HD900/5’s differentialbalanced inputs (200mV – 8V RMS). This wide range
is split up into two sub-ranges, accessible via the
“Input Voltage” switch located next to the “Input
Mode” switch under the “General Setup” heading.
The “Low” position of the “Input Voltage”
switch selects an input sensitivity range between
200mV and 2V for all the amplifier channels. This
means that the “Input Sens.” rotary controls will
operate within that voltage window. If you are
using an aftermarket source unit, with preamplevel outputs, this is most likely the position that
you will use (regardless of what voltage output
capability is claimed by the source unit).
The “High” position of the “Input Voltage”
switch selects an input sensitivity range between
800mV and 8V. This is for use with speaker-level
outputs from source units and small amplifiers
found in many OEM (factory-installed) systems.
To use speaker-level sources, splice the speaker
output wires of the source unit or small amplifier
onto a pair of RCA plugs for each input pair or use
the JL Audio ECS Speaker Wire to RCA adaptor
(XB-CLRAIC2-SW). It is not necessary (or advisable)
to use “Line Output Converters” with
your HD900/5.

Let me know what you guys think. I am definitely not getting any noise or static or turn-on / turn-off thumps when using the High Input Voltage setting, but the sound doesn't seem quite right to me, just could be I am still getting used to the new speakers I guess. I searched through a ton of threads and couldn't really find a definitive answer on the MyLink output voltage.

The MyLink output is line level (ie: low voltage). The Fark harness taps the line level / input side of the amp.

Typically when they refer to "high voltage" input, they are referring to an amplified input.
