SS Muffler Delete?

Hey all! I'm new to the forums, but I had a 2LT/RS for about a year, which i traded in last Saturday for my 2011 1SS M6. I called my local exhaust shop and they quoted me about $200 for 4'' tips and straight pipes to get rid of those hideous cans! i just wanted to know who else has done this, and if they are happy with the look/sound. I get to start all over on mods now.

I predict you may be posting a "I got a ticket" thread in the near future.

I purchased the magnaflow axle back system and I am very happy with it. It sounds great and it is not too loud. The only thing that some people will like or not like about a muffler delete is that it will make the pop on deceleration that the camaros have much louder. Almost sounds like a backfire but it isnt.

This is what it will sound like

I have it. If you don't do other exhaust modds its not that bad. I've heard aftermarket exhausts with mufflers and headers that were louder then my muffler delete.

The popping is louder, but it is on the aftermarket systems.

I just bought a 2011 2SS/RS 6M. I have not been able to drive it here in Minn. since I brought it home from the dealership, but first mod in the spring is a muffler delete. Last fall I rode with a friend in my Camaro club who did a muffler delete and straight pipes and I can tell you first hand it sounds awesome. Surprisingly it is not that loud and it sure as heck beats $400 to $500 for all the other muffler replacement systems.

I would say DO IT!! although I'm happy with the stock tips. I would recommend the Hemholtz pipe being added to remove any drone and you will LOVE it. I must say there is little drone without LT's.

i had it done to my 1ss and it was absolutely awesome. It's not too loud at all, in my personal opinion its not loud enough for you to worry about tickets. I did the muffler delete on my car AND i write tickets for a living so take my opinion for whatever it's worth lol.

now i have long tube headers and high flow cats with the muffler delete and i'll tell ya it's loud and it definitely drones. The droning you can get around once you learn what RPMs it drones at and then just shift out of the gear once it starts to drone.

i have to tell you though, the car sounds AMAZING at idle and deceleration. At idle it sounds like a motor boat and you can actually hear the sound of the stock cam, it's freaking awesome. just be ready for it to get loud when you get on the gas if you put long tube headers.

bottom line, you can't beat it for the money so i say go with it.

muffler delete

i did the muffler delete also. less than $90 with tax. i had them cut the tips off the mufflers then had them welded back on that way it still looked factory but with a better sound. if u reuse the tips it will save u $$ from buying the 4" tips

Anyone done a Delete on an L99? Just trying to find out of the buzzing is bad with the AFM kicked in?

They do sound good but there are all revving videos and not practical use. Thanks

I have an L99... and the delete. When AFM kicks in it is noticeable and doesnt sound great... but it overall i love it. I have the stock tips reused and only paid 60 bucks, so im not complaining. at idle the difference isnt really noticeable, but it sounds waaaaay better throughout the rest of the rev range. slight bit of drone at highway speed between 1800 and 2000 RPMs, but that also is just minor.
