It would have been nice if they were long tube tri-y's, but I like that they are stepped as well.

I've been away from the body business for a long time, but I believe it's unusual to see a chassis stiffener in that position. Imagine that is stiffening the chassis in the same way a shock tower brace does it. Lots of torsional rigidity.
That is the front "impact bar\bumper", like the one in the video I posted about the cts-v.

You can see the radiator support angle pieces above & behind it.

It is looking a lot like what they did with the corvettes all aluminum frame, stiffer & lighter!

I was referring to the highlighted area in the pic, the structural rail curving back over the transmission tunnel, but yeah, I watched the vid. It does appear to be the same bumper design, hopefully aluminum.

I agree! The LS1/2/3/6 manifolds were junk indeed. You could pickup significant gains from some LT's... but with these Tri-Y's there isn't near as much left on the table. It's a huge step up in my opinion, and I'm so glad they did it.

GM has traditionally not been great at getting mass out. C6 and the Z06 versions was the first big step. Then the Cruze ECO lost some major weight. GM has just struggled to meet global requirements and has been "conservative" in getting there.

The ATS is a great example of what GM can do when properly challenged and having budget and leadership to back it up.

I think we will start to see the benefits of good engineering, not just throwing expensive materials, in the 2016 Cruze and Malibu. At least I am hoping so.

Anyone can throw aluminum, magnesium and Carbon Fiber at a part. That just takes $$$$. Excellent engineering that counts every ounce at the lowest cost wins.

No one should be thinking that GM is throwing aluminum and magnesium at the Camaro just because it's a Camaro. It must remain profitable and affordable even in a sub $30,000 car.

I do not expect GM to throw even more high $$$ materials at a $30,000 Camaro than they do at a $40,000 ATS.
Well GM does sell 3 times as many Camaros compared to ATSs, so I'm sure that is taken into account to spread costs and keep the price down.

So all we get are pictures without even a small paragraph explaining what we are looking at?

The tri ys are interesting. I wonder if that's to keep torque up with the longer Camaro exhaust or if the Camaro LT1 will make more power than the Corvette LT1.

Fen's thread has the info. It is pretty crappy that they didn't post the info with the pics.
