SS chirp gears?
How many gears do you think people will be able to chirp in the SS. I am thinking 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Do you think its possible to chirp all these gears stock?

The equally weighted GTO will chirp 1-4 stock and has 30-80 less hp. We have many fun 4th gear scratches ahead of us! On cold days we might be able to break them totally loose in 4th...

I would say yes, maybe not a 4th, but 1-3 should be able to. We'll find out soon enough! |

I don't think it's a dumb question at all. I had a bit over 330 RWHP in my vette and couldn't chirp in 3rd gear.....maybe I just don't know how to drive or i needed new tires, lol. The new SS shouldn't be much more than 30-40hp more than I had at the wheels....

My dad has a '92 GMC Z-71. About 5 years ago we put a 350hp crate engine in it with an Edelbrock MPFI intake. It's a manual, with about a 3ft long shifter, and 3.73's. I took it out racing against a few other guys in much newer trucks (yes, I was stupid...and redneck) and I was actually able to scratch 3rd in it. Granted I had to be back on the gas as I let the clutch out so I was making full power when it engaged, but I was able to do it. Everyone out there was picking their jaws off the ground.
It's all in how you drive it. Scratching 4th though? I doubt it. I think in the Camaro, you're already doing over 100mph when you shift into 4th. |

The rear tires chirp when up-shifting. Torque city.

1st, 2nd, 3rd won't be an issue. Anything above that probably will be difficult with the meat in the rear.
