Air/Fuel Ratio
O.K. what should the Air/fuel ratio be?? I was thinking about adding a air/Fuel meter to my car, It seems most of the guys (me included) are running just under 13. but when I researched the meter, they state that 14.7 is normal. anything below is rich and anything above is lean. So are most of us running rich??

14.7 is stoich for 100% gas, 14.1 is stoich for 10% ethanol gas. You should be running that under normal conditions. At WOT you want your AFR to be 12-13 for safe power. Anything higher than 13 you risk detonation and pre-ignition. Lower than 11 will rob power since the flame is too slow.

14.7 is the stoichiometric mixture for air to fuel. it's what the perfect mixture is. but that will change with the application (I.e supercharged)
my car idles at 14.7 currently but when I accelerate hard it'll drop into the 13s and sometimes 12s for a brief moment. from what I've been reading should be around the 11-12 for force induction depending on application Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk |

Remember, 14.7 AFR is "stoich" for perfect balance of economy and power. 12.6 AFR is maximum power. 15.4 AFR is maximum economy.
