Somethings Up with Top, not 5th Bow
Hi,
Over the last few weeks I noticed a slight rattle all over, front & back/sides like top is loose a bit, also there is raised parts on both sides of bows. It stuck on me one day by lifting, driver side of handle area was stuck a bit. I got it loose and top lowered normally. Next time no catch/stuck, but last two times hard to latch(extreme pull down pressure). The car is a 2013 with no 5th bow issues and I took several pics below. Any ideas? Thanks! |

That happened to me the first week I bought the car new in 2013 the dealer had to make some type of adjustment and it has been fine ever since although my car is a garage queen so the top doesn't get used very often.

Update: The dealer is replacing the header panel at my cost. They swear it will solve the problems. We'll see....

Well call to my son, dealer having problems with new header panel, latching. Good God are we cursed getting convertibles? 17,300 miles and dropped the top around 28 times.

Picked up the Vert, header panel replaced. He suggested a body shop to re align the arms. He said passenger side is off. He asked me if I always had the problem. I told him no, just started last few months. Rabbit hole here I go.......

Wait a minute here---the "dealer" is suggesting you "take" it to a body shop? A GM dealer? WTF. Shouldn't they know how to fix any issue with their own cars????? I would have to believe that they have, or SHOULD have, trained technicians that are familiar with ALL aspects of the car that they sell. I'm baffled!

It's my warranty and dealer issue. They offered to replace the top at my expense. I said oh no! The service dept doesn't see many verts come thru with top issues, so I get their trepidation. I thought perhaps they would get anther technician from sister dealership. They had it for 4 days.

It's a 2013. The factory warranty is expired and most aftermarket extended warranties or protection packages do not cover convertible tops or their mechanisms.

And some of you give me a hard time when I complain over and over again about one bad experience after another with GM dealers. I’ve never had the level of bad service at any other dealer. Ever.
