Is the problem the clutch or the transmission
So I got my car back from having my nitrous outlet plate kit installed, and of course I decide to get on it and check it out.. It's amazing.. But when I got out on the back roads I decide to get on it from a dig then a couple first gear rolls.
3 times in a row going to shift into 3rd around 6000-6200rpm's I missed 3rd every time like it was just blocked out?? I have never missed a gear in my car yet which is a 2013 2ss 1le. Spraying I'm putting down 640whp and 590wtq I never had this problem on just motor. The 4th time I was pissed and bound and determined to hit 3rd and it went in but grinder in.... So I'm not even gonna act like I'm a know it all when it comes to the tranny or clutch. Is my problem my clutch or the tranny??? Stock clutch car has 2200miles on it. Thanks for any input guys

I have had this exact same issue in my 2011 SS since it was new. I've spoken to everyone from the mechanics all the way up the GM customer service chain. No one has an answer for me because it cannot be reproduced when a tech test drives the car. Oh, and no one at GM has ever heard of this problem. (still my favorite)
There are a number of others here on C5 with this problem too. Just search for 2nd gear grind or something related to transmission issues. Reports of this seem to turn up in those threads more often than on their own. If you are looking for a solution, save your energy. There is none. |

On my ZL-1, I have had this happen when I try to use no-lift-shift. It seems to go into 3rd OK when I lift off the throttle. Not sure if it is related, but I just had the trans replaced under warranty when the 3rd gear synchros disintegrated.

Are you spraying on the stock clutch? Cause it barely holds stock power when driven aggressively...at your power level I'd recommend our Level 3 with 28lb flywheel, let me know if you have any questions. Chris, 817-750-2000

600+ is definitely pushing the limits on the stock clutch and hydraulics.

I do not have this issue, but I can say that if it were the transmission itself, it would have the issue under normal driving conditions as well.
Clutch and/or hydraulics, as others have said.
