Am i crazy ?
I have a 2014 ZL1 and just turned 2700 miles on it. The only track near by is a 1/4 mile track and if i take it there it will only be once or twice just to see what i can do with it . I do take my ZL1 to allot of car shows because i have invested some money in the exterior and under the hood . The only HP mod i have done is a CAI by Roto-Fab . But i am thinking of doing some horse power mods . I have been talking to my local high performance shop and i would love to say i have over 700 + HP at the crank and 600+at the wheels . If i do it i would also upgrade the cooling system and put in meth injection. I would do it right...
So am i crazy for doing this when i will not use it that often ? |

Depends on your comfort level spending what...12k? What do u mean u wont use it that often...u mean take it to the track or the car is not a daily driver? Either way...I say go for it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...trade your Z in for a 2015 Hellcat.

Well, what I can say about this is that I have callaway camaro and had roughly the same amount of horsepower as you do. I did some mods and I have 607 hp to the wheels now. I don't regret it one bit. It's drives great and the sound, yeah the sound. Worth every penny. And she get up and goes! I thought my car was fast before. Just my .02 cents

You do not have a Z but you have a SS? Your giving advice here on what to do? I would not trade my Z for a hellcat either. Lets see what happens to those cars in a few years on prices and feedback from the people who buy them.

I don't think you have to own one, in order to give advice on them. Infact, I think benji gave some good advice.

Ok guys everyone is entitled to have there own opinion and I stated mine, and so did benji. I guess he does not like the ZL1 and would rather have a hellcat. I just was trying to point out he did not have a ZL1 and he has a SS and and there is alot of difference between the two. That is why I said let us wait and see how things shake out between the two cars in a year or two.I waited a year and read alot about the ZL cars before I bought one and I would do the same if I was interested in a hellcat. I just bought a new GMC Denalli truck and the dealer I buy from sells dodge trucks also so I drove one of those before buying the GMC.To me there was no comparsion to the GMC's ride, handling, performance. The dodge just felt like I was driving a slug! I have never been a dodge product fan at all and I really do not believe I will ever change. That being said dodge has never [in my opinion] built as good of vehicle as GM or Ford.

Good point Bigtime besides when you have that Bowtie Camaro blood running though your veins there isn't any other car you would consider exspecially one of those elephant Hellkitties do a few mods and you will smoke the Hellkitty anyways!!!!!!

FYI...I love the ZL1. If given the choice I'd take the 2014 ZL1 (or any 2012-2014 ZL1) over any Challenger or Charger. I think it's a much hotter car and I prefer the features on the ZL1. I was simply pointing out that the OP seems to be wanting his ZL1 to be as powerful as the Challenger and is spending a boatload of money to do it. It might be more cost efficient for him to just buy the new Challenger. Like this all the work he is having done, instead of having it done in private automotive shops is done right in the factory. It sure looks like he won't stop expensive mods until his HP exceeds 700 to his rear wheels.
