Airaid Cold Air Intake!!!
Finally we are able to release this info. We have been working exclusively with Airaid for the last few months developing a cold air intake specific for the ZL1.
We cannot release our dyno numbers, you will have to wait for GM High Tech Magazine to release these (coming to the shop tomorrow to test our first three performance packs) but I can tell you this thing makes HUGE HP/TQ. Airaid may be able to provide you with gains and dyno sheets These intake systems feature Airaid's new large, one-piece, rotational-molded air box and totally redesigned air intake tube. These new one-piece air boxes house Airaid's exclusive air filter which, when combined with the CAD-designed intake tube, provides improved horsepower, torque, and MPG. All MXP series intake systems include all of the necessary hardware and easy-to-follow instructions for a quick and hassle-free installation. Massive Tubing HUGE Gains in horsepower and improved throttle response Feeds air directly to the high performance, premium filter Allows only cool, outside air to the intake Lifetime filter is washable and reusable Simple to install with just basic hand tools System is computer designed for a perfect fit These will be IN STOCK within 1 week and we will be the FIRST to have them. They are available on our website now. |

no air leaks in through the hole for the washer fluid fill?
Is there some kind of gasket there?

It is a pretty tight seal and not enough airflow will escape through the 'sealed box' enclosure to defeat it's purpose. Airaid has had this box out since the first SS with zero issues.

Thanks. It is hard to see in the picture, but the box appears to be more of a "bucket" compared to others. Where does it pull air from with the hood closed? It doesn't look like it is open to the front.

I think it may be similar to their intake for the SS. I wondered the same thing, so I went to their website and looked at the SS intake.

At which part? It is over 4" the entire run with some velocity transitions. I can state that this intake is one of the best performing we have seen for the ZL1 to date and we work with Airaid because of their amazing quality and R&D process

Both between the TB and air filter as well as the front inlet to the air box. I would think the front inlet of the filter box should also be larger than the normal SS box to maintain high RPM supercharged airflow if someone were to combine this with other mods (102TB, porting, cam, exhaust) to improve airflow through the engine.

When we get the next one in, I can take measurements. The opening at the filter is much larger |

Nice. Thanks. I'll be watching this as I'm knee deep in upgrades right now and might try out some different CAIs to see what works best with high flow.
