2013 Top Issues?

Hello All,

Although I follow the forum quite closely, I really didn't run across any threads regarding 2013 top issues.

Can anyone provide some insight into whether 2013's have had similar or identical top issues as on the 2011's and 2012's and whether they are as widespread as they have been on those MY's?

If 2013's have had problems, is there a particular time frame that appears to be less affected?

I'm guessing, from what I've taken in, the 2013's appear to have almost all, if not all, top problems of the previous MY's completely remedied?

Sure would appreciate some knowledge in reference to this.

I had all of the problems on my 2012... no problems as of yet on my 13, but only 8k miles on it, much of it top up this winter. Although my 12 started having problems by 1k miles...

My 2013 is perfect. No problems at all, if the sun is out the top is down.

I'm hoping so...now they need to get some better colors & I'll be trading in for sure! Get something like Laguna Blue & I'm there...

Right now its looking like they got it correct by the 2013. BUT I would wait until those cars that have been garaged for the winter come out of hiding. Then see how many (if any) start to run into top problems.

However it does look promising...........(fingers crossed icon here)

When 2013 owners say "no problems" does that mean when you put the top down (without the tonneau cover in place) and drive down the highway, you don't see the retracted top flapping in the breeze?

Oh, it still flaps, but the clearance between the top and the rear of the well is much larger on the 13 compared to my 12. The 12 was rubbing against the rear since it was about 1 month old. My 13 still has about 1/2 to 1" clearance from rubbing on the back. I'm going to be watching it on the very hot days this summer though, once the fabric has relaxed further.

Definitely keep an eye on it. My 3rd top took 8 months before the fabric relaxed enough to where it was touching the rear storage well area. When it finally did start touching, it only took a few weeks to start wearing a hole in the material.
