When people come up and ask you about your car - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

At first I was looking forward to people saying NICE CAR or something... But now it gets kind of annoying when strange people come up to me and talk to me about my car. Especially when the first thing they ask is "v6 or v8"? Now that's really annoying. Some people who only care if it's a v8 are so closed minded and generally have no clue what the difference is or how much power a v6 can actually put out. Or they start rambling off about their life stories or something... I just wanted to ask you guys abut your personal experiences that bug you. Today two different people tried talking to me at a gas station. I really do like when people check out my car or give me thumbs up or just say "nice car" but if all they have to say is "is it the 6 or the 8" and shake their heads and walk away when I say "6", then they need to just keep their mouths shut.

So basically... What are your personal experiences? I know many of you have good experiences too. Mine have mostly been bad though.

I get the is that a 6 or 8 and when i say 6 they look like they dont want to talk to me anymore. hahaha i dont care because 9 times out of 10 my car looks better then theres anyway.

Sounds like you are a bit insecure about your car. Just be happy with what you have and don't give a crap what people think.

I'm very insecure overall I have to admit. But I am happy with my car so far it's turning out to be one tough badass ;D

Did you ever think that maybe if they have to ask, they are not familiar with the new generation of Camaros?

So when you tell them its a V6, bear in mind that their first impulse just might be that it sounds unusual to them.

Besides, there's no law that says they have to kiss your ass, either.

Sorry Jaun, but I know how the OP feels, and I have a 8. I have experienced what he is talking about twice.

I had a guy roll up on me and all he kept asking was if I got the V8. Kinda got on my nerves.

Then at a car show a bunch of us were hanging out both 6 and 8's when this guy walks up and starts talking trash about the 6 's.

Bad thing is he was a fellow 5th gen owner. I don't believe in putting anyone else ride down. If you can't say something nice.............

Just tell them "it's got the 323 horsepower 3.6 liter." and leave it at that.

you will enjoy your car more if you stay away from reading the SS threads and especially the "I should have gotten a SS...I upgraded to an SS" etc. threads. Forums are fun and provide a wealth of information but they tend to make you take some things for granted, wish you had this or that, mod this or that, etc. etc. Love what you have.
