Talking 1984 Camaro Z28 Restore

My parents being awesome as they are, surprised me with the Tittle of a 1984 Camaro. They got it for $400 dollars, and are letting me to do whatever I want to her. She's in ruff shape, but will be a fun build. She is blue with blue interior with T-tops. She doesn't run since she has been sitting for a while.

I want to pay them back, but I put my $2,000 dollars on a CD at the bank, so it's off to work.

1. First I will cover the engine and sandblast the paint to save money.
2. The blue interior is in good shape with power seats, needs new headliner.
3. Replace the parts of the engine that needs fixing.
4. New tires and rims.
5. White Hurst ball shifter.
6. New exhaust, thinking Borla.
7. I want to paint it black with gold trim.
8. The make the interior black with gold stitching.
9. Any suggestions or ideas from you wise Camaro5 members would be appreciated.

I will get pics of her tomorrow before our party.

!!!!!! Here is a video of pics of the Camaro !!!!!!!

Wow, congrats. My first car was a black with gold trim 84' Z28. I loved that car like crazy!
I would have killed for it to be blue like you said yours is though, so thats kinda funny we both want the opposite, but to each his own right?

Good luck on your project. I will check back soon, I hope to see some pics.

Thumbs up

Sounds awesome! I would look into other types of exhaust system as you may be able to get a better on with more horsepower gains.
Your color choice sounds good too. ENJOY!!

Do you have any brands you would recommend?

Borla is an excellent choice but it is pricey. I would stay away from Flowmasters for a 3rd or 4th gen application. Their blow-through designs work excellent, but all of their transverse designs (inlet on one side and an outlet on BOTH sides) perform very poorly. They make a lot of noise but don't put up the numbers that a Magnaflow, Corsa, Borla, Hooker, do.

I would love to get me some hookers, haha but seriously i've heard they're good as with magnaflow, corsa, and borla.

But im looking for a loud, muscle noise with good power, since I won't be racing with it.

Here are some pics of my Red 84 Z28 and the Tan one I recently sold.

Both are 100% Original except for Tires and Batteries. It might help with your restoration of you need to know where anything goes under the hood or elsewhere. The Red one has 27K miles and the Tan one had 15K when I sold it in March of this year.

Send a message via Yahoo to CamaroSpike23
what are your plans for the car?

street cruiser, track bruiser?

are you planning on keeping the stock motor? or swapping to a crate motor or swapping to something a little "different"?

No Problem. I know how hard it is to find correct information sometimes and I know how original both of these cars are.

its gonna be my drive/cruise car for school/work, but i probably will take it to the track for fun so i want power, but not too much so i don't get in trouble

jk I'm responsible

the motor might not be in shape so im guessing either a chevy big or chevy small block engine

also i saw the start up video of yours and noticed the red car lol, he liked it as much as i do
