Google Caddilac 3.6 timing chains. There is a lot out there about it already , however, I am wanting to do a write up about the chain alignment, and some hints that would have helped me.

I swear , the worst bolts to get to were the back valve cover bolts and the rear intake manifold bolts. The front cover isn't difficult at all in removing. I would have loved to have had a real manual instead of the aftermarket down load that I bought off of eBay. Someone copied the files, but it has links to click in the instructions that do not operate. You have to search through pages to find what you are looking for , or to explain something such a caution.

Looks like they may have corrected the problem and went back to the old logarithm.

WOW, why did you have to tear into it so deep. Don't the front timing covers just come off?

Camaro isn't half as expensive as the Acadia to do chains.

Actually, that is just the valve covers and timing cover off. So, yeah, you do have to go that deep. There is room to do it, the most difficult bolts to reach were the back valve cover bolts, and those two intake manifold bolts.

Alright so im back sorry for leaving this thread open like this. Well i took the car in on a thursday diagnosed with a streched timing chain. went in for warrenty. They never call me to let me know this. Call them on saturday. They tell me its almost put back together so im all excited i get to pick her up on monday. Well monday night comes and i goto pick it up get there at 6:55 they close at 7 pick it up and drive off get 1/4 mile down the road and she dies. no power sounds like its missing completely. Drift it back down the hill to the dealership and park it in front of the service garage door and all service people are gone! Luckly the receptionist was there to take the key. While waiting for my ride to get back very unhappy while waiting i pop the hood to look at it and see maybe something small maybe sensor unplugged or something. Find that they didnt even replace the vmax iceolator or tell me they werent putting it back on. And i have no idea where it is. Even more pissed now. Get a call from them first thing in the morning and i was told it was a camshaft actuator solnoid valve was shorting out. and they put my iceolator in a bag in my car for me atleast time to reinstall that. So im curious how it could all of a sudden be shorting out right after they work on it.

Well, mine was the timing chain. Going to run me $1,150 to replace. Just another piece in a real bad day.

Oh, I know it is not a bad price. However, just found out I will probably lose my job between now and the first of the year.

Oh well.

Life goes on.
