Opinions on Installing Ground Effects Yourself

My ground effects are at the dealership getting painted. I planned on installing them myself, but after reading the instructions it may be more than I feel like dealing with. The dealership quoted me $275.00 to install them. Has anyone installed their own ground effects? If so, do you recommend it or should I just pay the dealership to do it?

That "project" would be a little much for me as well. I am trying to muster up the courage to install my Hurst shifter

I would not recommend doing it yourself. Depends on how you feel about abilities in taking apart the front fascia and putting it back together without damaging it. You mentioned that you got it painted so the warranty is out the window so that isn't a concern when making your choice.

Ok, another person on here was in the same boat. He got them for Christmas and we did it in my garage. NOT hard at all, you do not have to take the back of the car apart to put it on. The sides were easy and the front was a bit tuff but is able to be done with no problems. Do it if you have the space inside and just take your time! If you have any questions shoot me an email.

Thanks for the info. How'd you get around taking the back apart? From reading the instructions, it seems the one of the only reasons the rear fascia has to come off is to cut the exhaust tips. I talked to the dealership this morning. The gfx will be ready to install on Friday, but they will not be able to get to it until next week. My impatience may get the best of me, and I might just do it myself.

Do you have to remove anything just to install the front lower air dam?

install the sides, they are easy enough then get a lower quote from dealer to install just the front and back. The front and back require drilling and careful and correct application of rivets and 3M tapes...best to leave it to the dealer in case something gets screwed up, they are responsible.

not heavy at all. If I remember correctly, I lifted mine while they were in a big box and couldn't have more than 20 -30 pounds (with box and packing material)
