Small chips normal?

Hey guys, I've had my car for about 5 months now and when washing it the other day I found 3 small chips on the hood and a few on each of the front fenders. Is this normal? This is my first black car, so I know it's going to show a lot of the imperfections, I just want to make sure I'm not the only one finding chips. Mind you, none of them are very big, but they still bother me nonetheless.

Also, would it be wise to touch them up and then install the clear bra over top?

Thanks

Yes, this is perfectly normal, especially if it's driven alot. It would be very wise to touch up the chips and then install a clear bra. They are only visible if you look for them, so no real cons.

I have about 2000 miles currently. People warned me not to get black and I now I see why, lol. It does look amazing when it's clean though.

Chips are obvious on most colors since the primer is white. But yeah this car loves to chip.

There are TONS of threads already on this. A search would have answered your questions pretty quickly. Yes the Camaro's get a lot of chips... as well as every other car on the road. Its the new EPA standards that have made paints soft. A clear bra is the only option you have to prevent them.

Dude, it's perfectly normal. I'm just glad your not ready to slit your wrist over it like some other people on here lol. I had 3 small chips on my hood, and about 3-4 on my side gills,.......all of which are totally invisible to the human eye beyond a 3 ft distance. The thing you need to be glad for is,.....no one else can see those on your car while your out and about in public. Unless you let someone get up close and personal with your car, no one can see them.

I got about 6,000 miles on my car since Oct 23, of 2009 and despite my chips, my car looks like it came from the showroom floor. Why? Because, it's all about "perception",....out of sight out of mind. What people cannot see, they cannot talk about.

Yeah, none of them are really too bad, so I'm not suicidal or anything yet, lol. I just don't want this to be a re-occurring theme.

We'll if you go on any other car forum for other brands, you'll see the same complaints. Every time I wash my '05 Honda, I see more chips. If I don't wash it I don't notice as many. Its black and has its share of chips, but I love the color and wouldn't choose another color besides black on a Camaro.

Yeah I guess I have to agree. I'm sure owners of red, silver, blue, etc. Camaro's have the same amount of chips as us, they just aren't as visible.

I have a few front end chips, as well. They are a good reminder for me to keep back from the cars in front of me. If I hear something hit the car, I am most likely following too close.

I too have a few little ones on the gills area. The design must cause the front tires to fling stuff up and impact that area.
