Who are these people bumping the fob with their knee? How long are their legs and how close are they sitting to the wheel?

The problem has nothing to do with the button. When the key is in the ignition, the FOB is horizontal. Supposedly it's 'possible' to hit the leading edge of the FOB with your knee causing the key to turn in the ignition, turning it off.

How about if I have to do it eventually, could I not turn in the second switchblade from the second set of keys? Would it still work?
Just "loose" one set of keys...

Just traded my black 12 for a 14 white 14 and they would not deliver the car till the keys were swaped over to the recall keys. I also refused but papers were all done. I argued but to no luck. I will also do the change. Just going to get extra keys made first.

The change over was done when I picked up my 14 zl1. I just changed back one set to the switchblade.

This! You absolutely can. When I went to buy my 2011 to replace the stolen 2010, I mentioned the switchblade key to the sales guy and he non-chalantly said 'oh, you can just opt out of the recall.' I was like 'he** yeah!'

He's FOS. I just bought my used 2011 last month and I opted out of the recall.

Unfortunately I can't opt out of the key recall. I have American Collectors Ins. & have been notified all ready that if I don't do the recall. And something happens to my Camaro that is caused by the failure of the key fob it will not pay for anything to my vehicle. And my vehicle is appraised for $57,000.

1/16" diameter by 5/16" length roll pin. That's what I used, it was still kind of a b1tch to get it hammered in but once I got it, that key doesn't move at all in it's seat.
