Guys, remember when a thread turns political most of the time it either gets deleted or closed, so I would suggest that any political talk be done in PM's..
Just making a friendly suggestion... Now back to the complaints....

every media outlet is biased lets not pretend there is a side that doesnt throw mud. as of yesterday fox news created a story about something joe biden said and they credited him saying it as of the past week. Instead he actually said it during the campaign and he was quoting something said but another candidate (ill let you guess he was running for president on the republican side).http://mediamatters.org/items/200903160026 its not just one side, one type of media, its everyone, because controversy sells.
that said no one anywhere is taking away the camaro. Ill grant that most criticism is not granted but lets not pretend this country isnt in a dire economic condition. We just went through the highest gas prices in history and people still have that fresh in their mind. They hear things like camaro and V8 which have traditionally not been economy cars (probably still arent but they are much better) and they make a blanket statement. Its GM's job as well as us the enthusiasts to sell this car to mainstream America and get people to realize that not only is this car going to kick your ass down the road but its going to get better gas mileage doing it. Once I get my car and people start asking me about it the first thing im going to tell them is it gets 30 MPG on the highway and then talk about its performance. |

It's unfortunate the Camaro gets tagged as a musclecar. I always thought of it as a pony car and a sport coupe, which the Mustang seems to get away with. As someone else said, the V6 is a direct competitor for the Altima and Accord coupes. This liberal ex-Prius driver is exactly the target Chevy needs to hit. My Civic is a great car and I could have easily seen myself trading up to the Accord, but you have to pop for the 4-banger to even have a shot at equaling the Camaro's MPG; the Honda 6 isn't even close. Plus, it's front drive. If I can get 304HP and 29MPG from a rear-drive American coupe with awesome styling and good handling, I'm gonna take it. |

Let's think about it another way. "What is GM thinking?"
GM isn't the only car company making V8 equipped cars. A lot of car manufacturers are making V8 cars. This isn't forcing these cars on anyone. It is only giving the people who want this type of car another choise. It is only GM's competition for the Audi's, M3's, and all the other "German quality" automobiles. It is a segment that GM should go after if they are to be a responsible company. Are they to leave a market untapped? If they did, that would be the irresponsible thing to their stockholders (us taxpayers). Just my .02 worth. |

Very good point..... I have been trying to pound that home to anyone who will listen that while of course we need to keep the Camaro enthusiasts, this car could find an untapped resourse in the folks who drive BMWs, MBs, and Audis. |
