Are the Boston Acoustics & base head unit the same?

Ok, here is the question. Do the Boston Acoustic system and the base system use the same head unit? I know that the Boston system has a power amplifier. Is the amp a separate unit. I ask because I plan on upgrading amps and speakers using "Clean Sweep" to feed them. If the head units are the same, why spend the $495 for the Boston system.

im sure its the same head unit.most likley a separate amp.speakers will make a world of difference.Plus i dont believe the non-BA system has 9 speakers.

That would be ok as I would upgrade them as well. Also, I think there are only 6 speaker locations.
1 - each door
1 - tweeter in each A-piller
2 - rear deck
Someone please confirm.

I've been wondering this forever. When I was in the car in Jacksonville I wasn't able to find any other than those. Sooo.... I dunno. I didn't really look all that hard though. I also didn't find the amp. Maybe it's mounted under the seat or something.

I bolded the stuff that I know to be wrong. How do I know?

6x9s aren't round. They look more like 6.5s. I probably should've crawled in the trunk and gotten a better look and found a label maybe but that's all I got. And to me it doesn't look like anything else is mounted on them but then again, you probably wouldn't need a big ol harness like that just for normal speakers. It looks like there's 4 wires for each side, 2 per speaker so there very well may be some mounted on there.

That's just the perspective of the 2nd one. I knew I shouldn't have posted it hah. I'm 99.999% sure they're round.

It looks oval to me too. The plastic arms hold the magnet are different lengths.

I think the the base audio has 6x9s but the BA system is 6.5s Check out the opening on the top side...

BA on a 2LT

Regular on blue 1LT

And again, when I was looking at it in person I'm fairly certain I recall seeing round speakers.

I believe the "premium sound" (aka BA) should have round 6 1/2" If you stay with the standard and do not upgrade it will be 6x9's Unless I have been horribly told wrong and seen wrong.
