Malfunction Indicator Lamp on

Was driving to work today and noticed that light on and the car driving sluggish. Stopped at the light and car was shaking some. 2 minutes later it went away. 37k miles so far. What the heck is going on? Anybody have any ideas. I'm going to make an appt with a chevy dealer.

Sounds like most likely some misfires in the engine creating the check engine light (CEL).

Once the problem resolved (some bad gas perhaps?), the system reset itself. It would be helpful to read the code that is still stored in the car's computer. They could do that at a local AutoZone or most any major car part store and tell you just what the problem was.

If it is something worth going for the dealer for, you can go in informed and better able to make good decisions.

P0306 is misfire on cylinder 6. Common problem. Looks like you will need a seafoam treatment. Did you have a oil catch can installed ?

Yes, there are people here that have had this covered under the warranty. There is a notice out there the dealers should be able to pick out. It is a induction manifold cleaning. This happens with direct injection engines.

Called a chevrolet dealership out here. 4thousand miles out of warranty and now its 110$ to find out if it would be covered under powertrain warranty. He said " if it's a spark plug bad no warranty, if its a wire bad no warranty. If its an internal wire it would be". Disappointed. Maybe I'll call another one.

I would just add a fuel treatment that removes water and take it from there.
run a whole tank through.
