L99 lag

I am new to the moding group and trying to educate myself on the camaro through C5...it has been a blast thanks to the help of all the users here...

But I gotta ask....I know this has been addressed that the L99 lag does exist, but what the hell causes it? When I first noticed it I thought there was an issue with my transmission (I know I am setting myself up for the "the only issue with the tranny is the L99 comments)....however, I noticed previous posts on here stated they were experiencing the same lag or occasional "hop". I only notice a hop, jolt, or any type of lag when I am accelerating at a slow rate during rush hour.

Is this an AFM issue and what is the easiest solution? Tune or additional mods? I will be purchasing LTs and CAI within the next few months...

I hate to say I "regret" going A6, because I don't..it was the most sensible option living in a well populated area of Orlando.

well almost every automatic transmission i have driven, has some type of lag. i think its just the automatic transmission and its normal. have you done a fuse pull?

anyways the AFM issue is only a issue when you have an exhaust and you can hear your car turn off 4 pistons at cursing. its sounds really bad from what i have heard.

when you get your CAI and headers make sure you get a tune. and you can will dive allot better all around.

Nah, I haven't done that yet, figured it wouldn't be necessary for the 2011, but I may have to give that a try.

When I accelerate a modest or steady rate no lag is present and it is very smooth. It is only when I am babying the vehicle because it is bumper to bumper to a feel a quick chop.

The VMax CNC Spiral ported TB does a ton to improve the throttle response and driveability.

Would an intake and/or headers help at all? I got some gift cert for kooks, so I am trying to use that first....obviously I plan on getting a tune done once those are installed...

No on intake and headers, but the tune part will fix you up...

I have a tuned 2011 SS and have yet to find a good tuner to resolve the lag. I absolutely HATE local driving or driving in traffic. I have to constantly slowly roll into the throttle to allow the tranny to play catch-up.

Last night I was coming up to a red light, before coming to a complete stop the light turned green so I hit the throttle too fast. When it caught the gear It felt like someone slammed into me.

Yikes... are you sure the tranny got tuned along w/ your engine? If so that's NOT the way it's supposed to work...

Yup, the tranny was tuned but I still didn't like the way it was shifting. It was a bit to agressive. It was great on the track but not for local driving. Right now the tune I'm using is the bone stock shifting points with the AFM delete.

I get a bit of delay before the car downshifts sometimes but not really anything that bugs me too much. The only time I really notice it is when I make a right turn. I either dont get the acceleration I wanted when I first hit the gas, or I end up hitting it harder than I realized since it did not grab right away.
None of that is AFM related, AFM would not likely be engaged at such a slow speed anyway.

After I installed my Vararam intake, I noticed a BIG
improvement in lag. It's still present slightly when
flooring it fro stop or a slow role, but is virtually
gone when flooring it from a higher rate of speed.
I can't wait until I add a nice ported TB.

I thought it had to do with traction control.

Not sure how TC would be involved at slower speeds.. plus I've had mine off (as far off as it gets anyway) and did not notice any change in behavior of the transmission.
