I made the trip down to Ideal to have him swap out the stock master for his modded version. Well, let me say I am happy... Jerry was a cool guy who hooked me up with his modded master, remote GTO res, installed my Tick Perf line and swapped out my trans fluid for royal purple synchromax that he had in stock. Hell, he even installed my MGW shifter and race knob.... All this while I waited, A C5 1%er for sure.. Awesome job Jerry, clutch works great, engadgement is smooth, no more chatter that I used to feel, shifting is positive and I even see a small mpg gain with the royal purple synchromax.. All around class act.. Guys get this master.. I love it..
Thanks again Jerry Quote:

Finally got time to get Blue Thunder on the lift to replace the throw out bearing.
Here's some pictures of the bad bearing , destroyed the slave cylinder.

Why'd the bearing fail? Your master cylinder blew it out?

Here's the original bearing next to the new one from JDP Motorsports
I knew it would only be a matter of time before that stock bearing with the plastic center would fail.

Thnx Jerry just put in my ideal garage master clutch cylinder, ticks high flow clutch line, remote resivoir and a return spring for the clutch. Feels a lot better and shifts smoother. Seems like the clutch doesn't need to be pressed in nearly as much.

Hey guys,
I have been having this 2nd gear grind issue on my V6 6M pretty much since I bought it and I was directed to this thread. From what I gathered from reading a few of the pages, the new master cylinder package (the one for $265) is what I need to fix this, along with some Royal Purple syncromax tran fluid? Also, I would def not be comfortable with installing this myself so I would be taking it to my mechanic that I have known for years. What would a typical install of this cost (ballpark is fine)? Thanks guys |

Way better!
Just installed. A little bit of a pain but not all that bad. 4 hours including remote GTO res. I did a few thing different that may or may not help the DIYers. I left the hose attaches to the mater and just took it off at the brake res. It was was easier to take off once out of the car. In order to pull the master out with the hose attached you need to remove the return spring. It is very easy to remove and put back on if you do it with the peddle to the floor. Just be carefull as it is a stong spring.
As for the master it wonderful. The shifts are so much smoother. I really had the high RPM shit issue but way alawys very knotchy. The clutch only grabs marginly higher then stock. It is nice to have a smoth shifting trans
