vendor to do my long block

Hi all,

It is time to look for a vendor to do the long block I am after, which is 418 LQ9 or LS3 416. The issue I have been having trouble not knowing whom to chose to drop +10K with confidence. Some lack proper communication, which is critical to me since I am located overseas. I have been thinking about those vendors and wanted to get an advise from you guys.

1) BES racing
2) HKE
3) Texas speed.
4) LME
5) AES

I had trouble communicating with HKE, Texas speed and AES, so not sure I want to go with them. enjoyed my conversation with BES racing, but they have 5 month back log and tried to search them up could not find someone here that did his engine with them.

Just to make a point I am not bad mouthing any of these reputable companies, it is just that I had trouble getting hold of someone when calling , never ending wait for a quotation or not replying to my e-mails due to the load they have which is understandable. However, Communication is crucial to me.

*if any of our vendors here have a ready for boost 408/416/418 long block, kindly PM me Specs and price please.

LME all the way IMO. They are great, priced right, and build good motors.

Same boat.. LME and ERL have given the most time on the phone with me.. Seem to have 1 hell of a Rep..ToO!

That being said they are also one of the highest..

I think ideally one shop that's been in business for ages that does really good work stands behind there work and still is reasonable is what I'm looking for.

I used Hans Feustel Racing in Ft Worth for my 383 96LT4 and never had one problem until LG motors F$%^ my crank snout. I had taken it to them to swap a Crank pulley for my T- Trim, then sent the Computer to a place in Oklahoma which back then was one only a few places that did OBD2 (Fast Chip). By the time I drove to Oklahoma to finish the tune about 120 miles the snout fell off on the dyno!

Needless to say I cant find Hans any more seems the phone is disconnected and website down or moved..

I saw an episode of Street Out laws and they blew a motor and took it to Morgan & Sons in Grand Prairie Tx.

I called M & S and was very impressed very knowledgeable and good prices..plus they new Hans and his work for they both have been in the business for 30 years plus. They also didn't mind if you sent them for instance a Callies Speed pack from Summit or any parts. and the prices seemed great like... Line hone if you switch to ARP studs was 150 Machine work and bolts are 225.00.. Look online and you will see this is a 500.00 job at most places..

I been doing research after research for building a motor I don't have money out the ears to over pay for the same quality with a brand name or have the money to rebuild from poor work and like I said still think there are shops out there do as good as work as the shops that have article in magazines.

Which leads me to saying this....

I have made my choice and will be using Hp Motorsports http://www.hp-motorsports.com/ They have been like family and been very fair on repairing my car after another shop butchered it. Most shop wont even tackle another shops mess..

For instance.. 3 weeks ago after picking up the car replacing the butchered wiring harness from a previous shops heads and cam install the cars oil pump went out doing the Galveston car cruise with HPD, this was on a Sunday I might add,.. I had pulled into Buc eyee's with no problems and when the 100 more cars started to roll out I started mine and the No oil pressure shut car off light came on..

I called the insurance company and setup towing to my house.. I then called
HP and told them that I was pretty much broke which is true from the previous shops head and cam job nightmare on my car.. I was just calling and asking that If I got stuck could yall give me pointers ect.. because I was going to fix it myself. Incidentally The oil pump just added to there screw up, they didn't replace the pump at the time of the heads and cam job.. I mean 100 insurance while its open REALLY!!! UGH!

That's me in the Bee.. behind HOVette!

He said where is car.. I said on a flat bed being towed home, he said don't worry about the money its not about the money ya'll are like family and I want to see yall have fun with your car yall had so much bad luck with the previous shop. tell the driver to drop it off at my shop. Jay gave us the gate code and ready in time for the next Casino fun run to Lake Charles.. (actually I wished it wouldn't been ready I lost 120.00 :(

I recommend HP for any and all upgrade.. They offer every service available from brake job to totally building race car. just a few of the services they offer.. Fabrication (manifolds to roll cages), porting, engine building, tuning ( josh is very good!)

I went over last night after work and we are starting a 417..

I talked to them to.. I wasn't impressed I called to see what parts were used in there TSP motors that says TSP rods and Cranks.

They said they are TSP brand.. I said I realize that but who makes them. then he said we have them made for us.. Ya I know its called re branding You contact a Company that has a line of crank and rods and they put your name on it or they make them to your specs ( He doesn't realize tht I have been buying RC parts from china from the manufactures that make same hi end parts for brand names here in the states like E-flite, Traxx, and Himax)..

The whole reason I wanted to know is because the TSP brand was the same price as other companies Callies compstar ect.. I feel like I should know all about what I'm paying for even if the TSP brand is good I want to know.

I see this is a common practice for Livernois and few others do the same..

On my rc line I contact the best manufactures to make my parts not off brand to copy the best ones.

So my guessing is that there using off brand parts not Callies re-branded otherwise it would be worded TSP parts mad for us by Callies!

No this doesn't mean there not good quality just can't see paying Callies prices for house brand!

My block is at ERL now. Great communication so far with Andres. With respect to making a solid foundation for power, ERL has MANY followers. Communication is very important to me as well so that helped with the decision. They are not the cheapest but I am not interested in doing another motor due to failure any time soon. Good luck.

Just make sure when discussing, there is a definite timeline involved, dont pay all up front etc etc.

Too many vendors make promises, they have no intention of keeping. I've made that mistake a few times. And generally I've paid up front to ensure there are no delays !!

Lesson learnt.

And until I'm refunded all I'm owed for parts they failed to supply....my sig stays

Didn't order the basic motor. I used the Callies ultra billet I beam rods and Dragon slayer crank. Most company's use Callies rods. They buy them unfinished and do the machine work in house. That's why they put their name on them. Pretty much a compstar rod with their machine work. If you read up on TSP you will find they have very nice machine shop. Livernois uses Manley. You need to read more.

Did you really compare RC part to Car parts?
