Supercharge the Camaro or LSX454 Crate Engine?
Supercharge the Camaro or LSX454 Crate Engine?
https://store.gmperformanceparts.com...!--19244611--> It says it the LSX454 Crate Engine fits right in, but it doesn't say it fits right in a new 2010 camaro. I thought I read somewhere that a few mods had to be done like move the coil packs off the valve covers because the hood won't shut, or maybe there are no bolt holes on the valve covers for the coils. Has anyone put a LSX454 Crate Engine in a 2010 camaro? What mods are needed? Electronics, fuel system, exhaust, does everything bolt on the front??? I've been looking at superchargers for a long time and I've been restraining myself from buying one, but I want one soooo bad.... I'm wanting the Maggie. So, anyway, I looked at the HP/TQ curve for the LSX454 Crate Engine and it look better than a supercharged otherwise stock camaro. The price isn't too much more and it looks like you get a much stronger engine. It's still more money and more work. So, Supercharge the Camaro or LSX454 Crate Engine? What do you think ? Or if I win the lottery supercharge the LSX454 Crate Engine? Just kidding !

Supercharger.
That motor is a replacement for older cars, its not even EFI or certified for your transmissions. |

For those with LS3 Camaros, there's now a supercharger option from GMPP!

They are vastly different - Forced induction with make more torque and most likely better mileage - the 454 monster will most likely sound badd ass and make more peak power - the F/I will be quicker

You need a manifold from a LS7 and the injectors from it too, all the parts on the front will work on the 454, Exhaust you will need to have one of the header manufacturers make a D shaped header, and a new tune for the computer. so yes some hard work but lots of fun. One last thing you can get it for a lot less the your link, at GM parts Direct it $9300++ |

and it requires no more space under the hood than a production LS engine.
space u are fine but there is a lot more work to be done than just dropping it in.

The supercharger is cheaper... The LSX454 seems bad'er. I looked at the LS3 with the TVS2300 dyno chart and the LSX454's chart. The LSX454 has more HP/TQ in every range. $6200 for the supercharger or $9300 for the motor Hmm....
Has anyone done the LSX ? Well I had my mind made up on which supercharger to get, the maggie, until the GM supercharger rumor started. Now I have to wait and see if it will happen and if they will warantee the car.. Also what else is involved with the GM version.. By then it will be 2012 and I'll be buying the Z28 if I can part with Bumblebee, which I doubt will happen...

Price wise there is so much difference between those two options. The motor swap parts and labor could double the SC install parts and labor. Both are very cool upgrades but the SC will make more initial power with the LSX able to make more power in the long run.

I've been dying to see good LSX454 builds. LSX454 takes my vote. It gives you a nice foundation if you ever wanted to do a Blower as well. You start with a better block, rotating assembly etc.

You'd have to be seriously out of your mind to do the 454 thing. About the only good thing I can see, vs a good f/i kit, would be durability. It would suck fuel like no tomorrow at similar power levels compared to the f/i setup. It's nowhere close to a bolt in propostition. The actual cost would probably scare you compared to the f/i kits. You'd have a big nut on the front end to swallow and then lots of labor as well as nickle and dime stuff that won't end. Did I mention it would suck fuel?
