To Those with Polished Wheels
I have never had wheels that put off this much brake dust! For the past 2 Saturdays, I have spent an hour trying to get this stuff off and this was after sealing them with Adams Spray Sealant. It doesn't just dust off, it smears into all the crevices like black oil. I am ready to go to dustless pads unless someone has recommendations on a better sealant or cleaning method.
Can someone recommend a good dustless pad and approximate cost for all 4 wheels? |

It's not the wheels putting off the brake dust it's the pads. See my post below on "Brake Pads". $265 at Maryland Speed.

It took you an hour to clean them? Use a hose.. Soap water and brush.. If you can't get them all super clean in 15 minutes, you're trying too hard. Go to autozone and get some wheel cleaner (non ethching of course)

Once you have them clean, use Armor All Wheel Protectant. This will slow down, not eliminate, the brake dust build up.

I was hoping the ZL1 rims were going to be a bit easier to clean than the SS. I really loath having to clean them once a week. I've yet to find the perfect brush for doing the job. My wife's 2Lt was/is so much easier to clean with the smaller rotors.

It does take me as much time to wash the rims as it does the entire car. But I do wash the inside of the rim also. I will try the Armor All spray.

I'm not cleaning/protecting the polished ZL1 wheels, but I love the results of the Armor All Wheel Protectant on the factory 20" chrome plated wheels of my charger. They still shine like crazy even after rains. Usually good for about 2 weeks if you apply correctly, and let it dry completely before taking your ride out. The only downside is the wait time for the stuff to dry.
Good luck! I LOVE the polished wheels on the ZL1!!! Edit: I also do spray the inside of the wheels, and they still look brand new 17000 miles later. It makes cleaning them the next go around a breeze

I used the Mother's all wheel cleaner and it worked great on my ploshed wheels on my 2010SS. I also used the Armor All protectant and I will be using both on te ZL1 black wheels. The brake dust and dirt just washed off with the Mother's and I sprayed the inside also.

I FEEL THE SAME WAY YOU DO!
I wish I would have just kept the black wheels on order. Which brake pads won't dust like these????
