Cost for 700hp?
Was thinking about doing some mod upgrades when my ZL1 comes in. About how much would it cost to get around 700hp out of a ZL1?

???? how did you get there? there is more than one way to get 700hp. heads and cam is the easy way. you can do it cam only though. I think you are looking at about 10ktops possibly less if you dont' buy new heads. if you do you own labor it is even less less. just price up the parts. headers ~1200 lower pulley and balancer ~560 TB ~150 cam kit ~1200 HX ~800 injectors ~800 tune ~400 CAI ~400 heads ~2k-3k depending on place. so this is 8k in parts but this would allow for over 700whp. strike the heads and do a higher boost dual pulley without the heads and knock a ton of this. much of this labor overlaps. that varies shop to shop I do my own.

You can get there, without doing it yourself, for $10K and some change if you go the pulley route like "Hognutz" suggested.

You can do it $10-15K, only thing to remember as long as you have supporting safety measures on engine and fuel you should be good. If the basic support measures arent there then you are on borrowed time.

First question is will yours be a auto or manual tranny? If it's an auto a bit more will be required. The next question is do you just want to be able to say you have 700 rwhp or do you want to be able beat on it and keep it reliable? I have an auto and to do it the reliable way and get over 700 rwhp I let Livernois did their thing and now I am making 734 rwhp (Heads, Heat Exchanger, Valve Springs, Fuel System, Injectors, Cam and More) all of that will be more than $10000.00 to get there in a auto tranny. I can't speak for the manual tranny but I know that livernois has gotten 780 rwhp from a manual tranny and can be a daily driver if desired.

$11,245
http://www.lingenfelter.com/engine-p...package-700-hp But that's just to get the rwhp. As Sportyb24 pointed out, the $20k he mentioned included any other mods necessary to handle the HP. |

Let's ask a few questions, just to clarify. Are you talking at the crankshaft (so 120hp over stock) or at the tires? Also, is the car an auto, or manual? The answer to these 2 questions can have a huge impact on the overall cost.
