Just ordered some to pick up after work because I've been meaning to change mine out as well. $25 a quart for the oem!

I'd stay with GM part #88862624. Orig fluid for rear. Have read tons of threads exposing problems with ALL others at some point in time and most have reverted back to stock fluid. GM covers this one well. No need to "upgrade" IMHO.

Some one will correct me if I'm wrong but when it gets cold the fluid tends to stiffen and make noise. So when it gets cold and I believe it's 5-15k miles somewhere along there

soooooooooo I live in California and it kinda doesn't get "cold". So I guess I don't have to change mine?

I have 12,000 miles on it as of now. It's a 2014. It was my daily driver, but since hen I have acquired a commuter car and the ZL1 is staying put in the garage and will be driven on weekends and to car shows

Thanks

I have 1,800 mi on my car and this weekend I made a u turn and it made a really bad noise. This is the first time it has done this. I know that they have had a problem with this and say to bring it in and have the fluid changed and add an additive to it. My question is if the OEM fluid is the best to use then way am I having this problem. I broke the car in the way they said and the night before this happened was the first time I really got on it through the first 4 gears.
As much as I like my car, GM really dropped the ball with the ZL1. Way to many problems with them according to this website.

Question

I've tried the search tool but am striking out..... so here it goes:

What is the proper torque for tightening the bolts in the rear diff after replacing the fluid?

TIA

it's a drain plug and fill plug. Just nice and firm should be sufficient. Feel how tight it is when you loosen the plug. It would be very difficult to mess this up.
