One V6 owner just swapped his diff and didn't have to swap shafts. I don't know anymore, conflicting information.

Would are the benefits of actually upgrading the shaft even if not required? I'm guessing its built to handle more horsepower/torque because its meant for the v8 SS's? If so it would probably be a good idea to go ahead and do that if I plan on doing extra mods in the future such as; high flow cats, cams from mace, eventually ips twin turbo?

Not sure how that would work unless it was a V6 M6, cause the V6 auto is has 30 spline outer hubs and the SS diff is 33 spline. Thta's why it's a custom axel that DSS builds to make it work. I do know the V6 M6 is stronger and different then the A6.

Talking about the driveshaft, not the half shafts. You definitely need the half shafts.

It is the LH and RH Axle.

Only two more questions, I have not yet been able to confirm if I need this whole driveshaft piece from DSS or not, can it be done without it? and are those gears I linked up there are those the diffs?

The part number I listed was the entire differential with 3.91 gears installed.

The driveshaft part, DSS makes a one piece that should be an upgrade anyways. It removes weight and the center joint. Be warned though, it can take up to 6 weeks to deliver, I bought mine on July 25th and haven't gotten it yet. It shipped last week though.

Yes to confirm, you will need the back half of the SS shaft. Magnumforcegb helped me with my install on telling me what parts to order, and everything fit perfect.

While the rear is out it is also a good time to do supporting mods since the trailing arms / diff bushing is a lot easier.

Good luck and if you have any questions let me know!
