Body for Life program works, but it is a life change program. I did it for the 3 mos it required, lost 35 lbs and gained a bunch of muscle...but after 9 yrs I have gained it all back.

using a 1RM calculator that is 441lbs that is between advanced and elite for my weight class, trying to get to 480 1RM to be "elite"
Going to give you some tough love....

First your form in this video is much better than the first. Second buy some chuck Taylor's to deadlift in and get out of your tennis shoes.

Third...(here it comes)....stop using a fictitious 1RM calculator and man up and pull the weight WITHOUT straps. If you truly want to work to being able to call yourself an elite deadlifter you have to ditch the straps because guess what? They don't allow straps in contests where you actually lift to achieve an elite status.

I am getting close to tightening my belt to the next smaller hole!!! My pants are starting to slip down more and when you're my height they drag on the floor easily.

I noticed that I was feeling a little too tired and not actually losing any weight either (stuck at 214-215 for about 3 weeks). I increased my calorie intake to 2200 from 1800 over just the past couple days and I am feeling better and my weight is already dropping. Need to feed the machine, HIIT is on tonight again. I am feeling pretty good about this.

Nice picture from the Internet...... Lol very nice man! I've always been amazed at what the strongman competitors can do. I do local powerlifting meets but I focus on my bodybuilding competitions.

I agree with the shoes and form being better, but I personally lift with people that used straps 80-90% of the time that have pulled 650-725 in comp and it wasn't their grip that failed them. Especially if you are pulling in over/over instead of traditional deadlift grip. Just my opinion of course, I personally lift with no straps all of the time simply because it feels easier to me as I do a traditional deadlift grip.

And I also agree that a 1mr calc is not an accurate representation of what you would lift... Tried that out back in high school and I was sorely disappointed lol...

Only time I'd ever consider straps is doing rack pulls with more weight that I can actually deadlift. There are some born, and through their daily work routines, that have a grip. I just don't understand why you would lift with them, especially doing a light weight that you can do reps for.

Lmao about the 1rm calculator and HS. I seem to remember something like that too but when I was in HS it was of the print variety lol.
