Geeezz guys, re-read the first post. The OP Said the dude used ELECTRICAL TAPE - hence the problem. Anyone with half a brain knows that if he had used duck tape it would have worked perfectly!

Oh wait... he said the dude was a cop. Are they even allowed to use duck tape?

How can a loose intake cause an engine to blow?

Yeah, OK, I can see how a couple globs of electrical take could do that...
But, I don't know how they wouldn't discover it when they disassembled the engine... and I don't think they would OK a new engine w/o determining the cause of the failure of the original engine.

You should consider yourself very lucky to have gotten the engine replaced under warranty... you pulled one over on GM.

What is duck tape? Is that used for tying up ducks before you cook them?

I've heard that "tick" before. I call it the GM Tick. My Trans Am has it, my Camaro has it, my husbands '92 Camaro had it and my old long gone Sunfire had it. GM Tick....

A police officer installs a CIA into your car, without your knowledge.
He uses electrical tape and after the engine blows up, the dealership gives you a "free" engine....interesting story!

I'm a female and was able to install the CAI myself. No Law Enforcement Officers needed, I'm grateful for all they do, not going to ask them to mod my Camaro for me.
hmmm... perhaps it's a LEO plot to take speeders off the road.
LEO - "Sir, your car needs a CAI. I will install that for you now." (clank clank hammer hammer riiiiiiiip... tape being applied)
OP - "Thank you Sir...." speeds off, car dies, cop smiles

"another one bites the dust..."

j/k - someone had to address it.

I was thinking the same way, but figured I'd join in on the fun.

I want to say that the first recall issue used electrical tape in the engine bay- where the positive cable was shorting out (Against the starter??). This should only apply to very early models, since I believe they fixed this on the production line asap.

Duct tape on a CAI will not blow your engine.

Base price of a ZL1 is $50,000 plus $10,000 dealer markup.
Your V6 Camaro is worth about $20,000. Are your ready to spend $40,000?
My V6 is worth over 20K... was already about to trade up to an SS and was offered 29.5K... sticker was 31K. Hmmmm, maybe you should trade in your Monte Carlo?
