You are really supposed to leave the car wet or wet a little area at a time when you use the clay bar.. Saves your paint!!

I think he meant he dries it off then sprays a Quick detailer or spray bottle
with soap for the clay.

Nexus is very anal about his cars!

It works, but I still prefer to go out in the garage when I'm tired of TV, etc., and put another coat of Z2 on the SS.

As for Z8; I like it as well, but prefer the Z6. Z8 tends to "streak" more than Z6, and to be honest, they both offer great shines. As I said, Z8 is very good. Just use it sparingly. If it does streak, just go over the area with some more.
So after the Z5 with accelerator, maintenance coats with Z2 is recommended as per your "down time" examples?

The Z5 is more of a cutting polish to take out fine swirls and scratches? and the Z5 more of a final wax?

Here's what I'd do;

1. Wash the car with Dawn. Even though there isn't any wax, you want a clean surface, free of any contaminants.

2. While car is still wet, Clay

3. Wash using Zaino Car Wash

4. Apply one coat of Z5, mixed with ZXF. If the paint is to your standards, further coats of Z5 aren't needed. (right now)

5. Apply two coats of Z2, mixed with ZXF.

- It's recommended only three coats within 24 hrs.

- ZXF is needed to help "bond" as well as cure the polish

- Use a separate was mitt if possible. IE; 1 for Dawn, 1 for Car wash

- You can wipe the car down bewteen coats with the spray if you like.

Hope that helped?

Ed
I thought Z2 and Z5 were the same minus the swirl scratch remover with the Z5.

I'm using Zaino for the first time this week. Let me know what you guys think. I planned on doing:

1)Wash car with Dawn

2)Clay with Z18 clay bar

3)Wash with Z7 show car wash

4)One coat of Z-AIO

5)One coat of Z5 with ZFX

6)Seal with Z-CS Clear Seal

After that I plan on maintaining with Z-7 washes and Z-8 spray and Z-CS. Any opinions? What would you guys change? I didn't buy the Z2 or Z6.

IMO, Z2 just give's it that little more "oomph".

Your process looks fine.

I've used Z-AIO once. Seeing as you've ordered it, go ahead and use it. But I think between the washing with 'Dawn', and the claying, the paint should be pretty clean and all set for Z5.

If you like, you can add more coats of Z5 to hide any imperfections.

And, I'd recommend the Z6 for in-between wipe downs. It does a very good job, and is a little cheaper. Save the Z8 for shows.

Make sure and use a "fresh" towel for each removal of polish. May not be necessary, but its my preferred method.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

How much polish do you use? Zaino says 1/2 ounce to 3/4 ounce will do the whole car but can you break it down for me? How much would you use on the fender which is small as opposed to the door which is big? Zaino recommends dampening the applicator pad with Z6 which I don't have. Can I use Z8 or just plain water to dampen it?

Claybar the entire car first after Dawn wash....picked up minimal junk. Then washed with Zaino

So far I have used 1 ounce of Z5 2.5 coats with ZFX (hood and trunk the 3 coats) and just over 1 ounce of Z2. bout 2 coats.

She is looking real deep and wet.

OMFG!

Been at it since 9 am this morning....6 hours. 1 more coat left.

All I can say to those getting their cars soon..it is worth the effort and time...and price.

NO bs residue..chalking, hazing.

Spent $230 on the top of line kit, leather cleaner, leather conditioner, CS, Clay, bucket, applicators, towels, tire shine, CS, towels...added a few things as well.

The Camaro looks F-ing awesome!
