Rock Cracked Window... What to do? :/
So last week, I was behind my brother's 91 GMC.. and it threw a rock up and chipped my window. I hadn't driven my car for 2 days after... and I didn't notice it until then. It had cracked the window about 6 inches from the point of impact. The crack has now (a week later) worked its way across my window another 4 or 5 inches... and I know it will only continue to get worse ... So what should I have done? My buddy was telling me about Safelite... but idk if I trust it. I assume I'm going to need a new windshield... and I've been told it's part of Chevy's "roll-over" safety stuff? Any input is appreciated...

Call your insurance company first to see if it's covered under comprehensive insurance. Some states, like SC, have zero deductible for safety glass, like windshields, if you have comprehensive, regardless of the deductible limit stated on your insurance policy. Not sure about TN. Doesn't hurt to ask.

So I see TN has no deductible waiver for glass. Nevertheless, there is no option but to replace the glass. A Pilkington windshield (OEM) will cost about $500 minus your deductible.

Usually insurance companies have a zero deductible for windows..I have zero deductible for all glass on my car. Check with them first, if not, safe-lite is good.

safelight glass sucks, it's thinner than OEM. I got the OEM quality pilkington from Glass America (glassUSA.com) installed for $305

I suppose its all up to preference. We ended up getting a close family friend that owns a glass shop here in town to replace it for $260. I made the mistake of telling my insurance it happened 2 weeks ago and they refused to do anything because "all accidents must be reported within 48 hours"
