Road trip

Hi guys,

I am planning a road trip with my ZL1 in March. The trip will take me 9600 miles around the country starting in NJ. See picture.

I friend if mine told me that in some states there is no premium gas available. Is that true? If yes what do I have to do? Do I need to change something in the ECU? The car is 100% stock.

If you have some more suggestions what to do before I start my trip, please post that.

Thanks!

You can't get 93 octane everywhere, like here in NJ.

Only 91.

But on a stock tune, no issue.

You should be able to get Premium in all states, it is 91 in a lot of places like here in California. The other thing you have to watch for is a lot of stations have ethonal blend up to 10%

run premium and you will be fine. You will find at higher altitude locations many pumps will have 85 octane for regular fuel. If you aren't running in boost, you could easily get by with lower octane fuel.

Hey Nesch18, have a safe trip. What is your "Q" stop in South Florida?

road trip

doing st louis to siesta key and back in mid march, more worried about cold weather than octane, rather not change tires.

looks like you get close to Roswell, but don't actually stop there. Also, what about Sedona?

When you get to Wyoming, you NEED to go to Yellowstone. Enjoy a day there.

Head across Idaho and visit Crater Lake in Oregon, continue on to the coast and then drive down the coast (during daylight hours) from there and enjoy the beautiful Redwoods on the pacific coast highway.

I cannot stress enough that going through Nevada there is a whole lot of nothing.

If you are passing through Phoenix, check out CamelBack mountain. Great for a climb.

For restaurants, I like Rosita's for lunch (very authentic) and Oregano's for dinner (Good atmosphere).

Wow, what a great trip. I am jealous. I couldn't find 93 in a lot of places when I drive to Sturgis. 91 was fine as long as I didn't get crazy.

I did half of that trip last march!!!! It was a blast. It should only be a little chilly and I found at least 91 everywhere.

Looks fun! If you can push it off into April it would be way safer as the northern portion of the trip could get very interesting at times if temps drop and snow falls with the OEM tires.

Stop Q is Miami.

I start from New Jersey and go directly to SFO in 4 days, so i will just stop to sleep. Will take me 5 weeks, all the destinations are set. No room for any plan changes. The dates are also set. If the forecast in the north is to bad i will travel more south. There is an optional route which takes also around 4 days from NJ to SFO

If your worried about the gas you could get some torco and keep it with you in the car just in case.

Jannety Racing Sells it and they have all the mixing charts on their site. Might be worth it for peace of mind.
