Is the mylink upgrade worth it?

I have a 2012 Camaro 1lt (without usb ports) and I was thinking about upgrading to mylink radio but I am afraid of possible bugs or software problems. For those who did it, is it worth it?

Absolutely, if you have SiriusXM.

depends on what you want to use it for.

I just use the iphone player and Pandora. If you have an input now, it's not as fancy of an interface but plays the same. I do that on my old Malibu... just hook up phone through the DVD aux.

I debated the same thing. I decided adding heads to my cam build was better.

I was going to do the mod but my Camaro is now a garage queen (weekend only) so do not think it's worth it. I will say I have it on my 2014 Malibu and I love it. So if yours is a daily driver I would do it in a heartbeat.

No. I like Mylink but it isn't worth the money to buy and install. You can get everything on your current radio (XM, etc.) just not the screen. You don't need Pandora. It's just a drain on your monthly cell bill. And it's a lot cheaper to buy an excellent portable GPS device such as Garmin that works better than Mylink navigation.

The screen looks nice and modern and goes very well with the interior design. I am just worried about bugs or software problems...

I haven't done it yet because I figured out how to synch my Galaxy S4 up with bluetooth for Pandora, and I found that if I use the google map directions when playing pandora I get the directions also out of the speakers.

I also managed to still keep my unlimited data on Verizon. It just sucks that anyone who texts me I have to pay 20 cents.

There's a lot of bugs with MyLink and I had some issues in my last vehicle. Take a look online, all sorts of problems (with all top end OE radios from all manufacturers). I'm glad I don't have it in mine. Sometimes less is more!

Having a 2013, I have My Link and I love it, and not knowing anything about your car, I promise you made the right choice. HP over Hi Fi any day!

There are many and varied issues. The screen can freeze. The fan button will freeze on occasion. The Mylink and HUD don't always synch. These are just issues I've had with two different 2013 models. I've read in other threads about problems even I haven't experienced. And adding it out of market is a major expense. Better off ttrading in for a 13 or 14 and having it already installed.

After I was told it was going to cost 2k for the mylink and install upgrade, I said screw it.
