First time on the track

So I finally made it to the track as part of a three day course through the SCCBC at the only track in BC The Rivers Ridge in Mission. The first step to get a Novice Race License.

Saturday was a little cold in the morning and I thought I would be cool and turn the Traction off...first run on a heel toe drill I could get traction in 3rd.
the TC went back on after that and kept it in Sport 4.

Had an instructor with me coaching and showing the lines. There were 40 cars and 20 instructors so lots of info to share. Most of the instructors raced either the Miata Spec or Formula Vs and all good guys and girl.

By the last session of Saturday the instructor said have fun ill watch from pit lane. It was so Fnking Awsome!! I was in aw of what the car can do. Only downside of the track was the length, only got to 4th for a bit on the front straight and everything else was 2nd/ 3rd.

A local news crew came by and did a little story, I made the final cut at about 48sec. Unfortunately they turned the sound down of the cars for the voice over but they got at the 3rd -4th up shift.

First time driving it in the rain!

I learned lots about throttle control to say the least and the tires were very predictable. I got sideways a bit but never spun. A few guys ended up in the grass and unfortunately one in the wall.

Wow, great first day at the track!

Rain, rain, rain. I will never drive my Z/28 on a track in the rain. I am way too chicken!

rain is ok if you are less than 80mph and there is no standing water. On faster straights with the Trofeos, the car will hydroplane and skate even in PTM 1...ask me how I know... Be careful and keep your inputs smooth. I can't wait for my first track day of the season at VIR in April with Audi Club.

The big wings certainly look goofy...your outlook on wings will change when cars equipped with such cartoonish pieces leave you in the dust!

The track day during CamaroFest in Bowling Green was mostly a wet day. We had one session where the track was dry. I was running the Pilot SS's and kept TC in Sport 3. No issues. The Pilot SS's tend to get greasy when they get hot, but on the wet track I could run the entire session with good traction.

I actually drove it in the rain, just took it really easy and stayed away from everyone.

I figured I'll get in the rain eventually so mind as well learn now.

I didn't get a chance to talk to the viper driver after, he was a little busy, but want to find out if he had track day insurance. None of us were covered under our normal daily insurance.

The Areo package is a little over the top but at least on the ACR its functional. The car is setting fastest laps at every track it is going to.

Not sure I'll go back to MRP unless your going to add another day to RevyFest and have a track day on the Friday....I would have rather gone to the Ridge but timing and exchange rate took precedence. I am glad I did do the course here, all the instructors were great.

If the timing works I think I'm going to go watch the race April 16/17. Paul in the Blue 1LE from Revy is racing that weekend.

Keep me in the loop for trips to the Ridge.
