i need some advise...on a 4th gen... i know i know,,,
so my 4th gen 2000 is a V6 automatic... laugh if you want i don't care...
and i keep checking the antifreeze and it's brown and gunky... i go in and get it flushed and guess what a week later... the same thing happens...and now it over heats. ugh! has anyone had this happen before? idk if oil is leaking in somehow... or what the deal is... there's no crack in the radiator no fluids on the ground... and it doesn't over heat if the car is just sitting there running it's only when it's been on the road a few miles... literally with in 5 miles it will over heat... i'm terrified to move it incase something blows or cracks... help me fix my baby!

Check your oil. If it is milky you have a head gasket issue most likely. If the oil is good, I would recommend a thermostat and water pump change. That should get you back in business.

Always a good idea to check the hoses. I would think the dealer could do everything from the t-stat to the water pump and inspect the hoses.

I remember this same question a while back and it was the same leak like wbt said. I think it was the oil that was leaking into the antifreeze.

That is definitely a blown head gasket. Had the same issue with my Eclipse (and honestly, still do... not willing to shell out $3000 to fix a car not even valued at $1000 by a dealer). Had what mechanics call "ice cream" as well.
Essentially, it's not good. I don't know how hard it is to replace a head gasket on a chevy v6, but I know with Mitsubishi, you have to take EVERYTHING off and out of the block to change the head gaskets. Good luck! |

it sure is oil leaking into water , you should first check your engine oil level and condition ... is it going low or changing color ... next thing that i can think of is, as your car is an automatic it could be transmission oil cooler leaking into radiator if it's equiped with one

There's a lot of chemicals at Autozone, Oreilly's, Advanced. There is one in particular that is "guaranteed" to fix blown head gaskets. I can't remember which one it was, but I remember it was talked about on the Two Guy's Garage TV show. I think it's around $10 or $15. I know you work at the dealership but it might be worth it to go that route first.
Years ago my uncle taught shop class at a community college and as we were putting my '73 Firebird's 400 back together he told me he would've tried the cheap fix first. I asked him what he meant and he said the chemical fix. |

I'm a little confused: you say your 2000 is a V6, but in your sig and under what you drive, you list a "2000 Camaro Z28"... I know you know the difference, but I have to ask what you really drive, because diagnosis and repair of items is completely different for the LS1 vs. the 3800 V6

let me explain the badging has been on since i was in high school from the previous owner and yes it is a v6 automatic... im assuming the z28 in those days were v8s idk.
either way my v6 has smoked plenty of mustang gts in its day.
